Janie had a special event at her school this evening. To kick it off, she sang 3 songs with her fellow Kindergarteners and the 1st graders.

She was really into it and did a great job singing and doing all the hand motions.

After the performance, we went around to some classrooms to learn about different innovators such as Eli Whitney and Jane Goodall. The 5th graders were each assigned an innovator, dressed up like the person, and gave us lots of fun facts about them.

Thursday morning

It’s Thursday again and Peanut woke up early. He got dressed quickly with Mama and went downstairs to get a head start on breakfast. He also thought it was cool to have GoGo sitting at the table with him.

Janie got dropped off at school and showed Mama around the play yard before the bell rang. They are getting ready for their Spell-a-thon next week and their spelling words are scattered around the school. They’re also mixed up and the kids have to find them and figure out what the word actually is. Apparently they move around each day because Janie pointed out this one just outside of her classroom today. She said “that wasn’t here yesterday!” and “that’s not how you spell fun!”

Her spelling test is next Friday (2/23) and people can sponsor her to raise money for her classroom. People can pay her for every word that she spells correctly on the test. I have a feeling she’s going to do rather well.

MagnaTiles and Cars

IMG_2770
Peanut loves playing with his MagnaTiles and has been incorporating his cars in play too.

He made garages for all his vehicles including the “Cars” characters he got from Uncle Johnny over Christmas.

It’s fun to watch him talk while he plays. He’ll say things like “you need a house” and “let’s go!”

Chinese School

We enrolled Janie in a Saturday Mandarin class and today was supposed to be her first day. Unfortunately, she was too sick to stay so we went to register and pick up her books. When we got home, Dada helped her with her her writing homework.
