This evening, while playing with her puzzles, she got into “teacher mode”. I love hearing her speak Spanish. She’s asking “Como se llama?” (What is this called?) and then labeling each animal in Spanish.
Princessa

This evening, Janie took a blanket and walked around with it around her chest. When Mommy said, “I like your pretty dress”, she said “I’m a princessa.”

So, Mommy helped tie it on one shoulder and she wore it around for at least an hour saying “I’m a princessa. It’s Spanish.” Where is she learning this stuff?! Must be school.
Running
Mama: Why are you running?
Janie: (yelling as she runs into the bedroom) I don’t know! I’m a crazy person!
present

Dada: “Who’s the present for?”
Janie: “My Uncle Johnny!”
I guess Uncle Johnny is her Valentine this year. So cute.
morning plans
Mama: “Do you want to go buy fruta or do something else today?”
Janie: “Something else.”
Mama: “What do you want to do then?”
Janie: “Um…I want playdough. I’m so lazy today.”
angry
Janie: “I want to be angry.”
Dada: “Angry? Why angry?”
Janie: “Just like Mama.”
Popcorn

Janie had an extra-special evening with Daddy today. After we got home from the mall, she got to watch TV and snack on popcorn with him.

She would reach into the bag and say “I help myself.”

She was also a good girl and went to brush her teeth after the show was over and fell asleep just minutes after that.
Conversation
This was one of the conversations we had today at dinner. It’s a reminder to us that Janie hears and processes everything we say to each other.
Mama (to Dada): One of KK’s classmates gets picked up on a bike.
Dada (to Mama): Oh really? What do they do when it rains?
Janie (to Mama and Dada): He gets wet.
I couldn’t stop laughing.
Silly girl

When we got home from school, Janie changed into her underwear and thought it would be more fun to play without pants but in Mommy’s shoes. She also took out her notebook and started drawing. When I asked her what she was doing, she said “pintar” and “pintamos”. That’s Spanish for “to paint or draw” and “we paint/draw”, respectively. The drawing turned out to be a self-portrait.
Sunshine and Celery

It was really sunny outside today so Janie asked for her sunglasses.

She rode her tricycle to Supercuts where Daddy was getting his hair cut.

Afterward, we headed down The Embarcadero for lunch.

Janie ate all the celery off Daddy’s plate and then asked the waitress for “more celery, please”.
There’s something about celery and ranch dressing that gets her so excited.
