First Starfish Class

Peanut started his first swim class without Mama in the pool with him. He was a little confused at first but did great with his fins and goggles on. He also liked Chris, his swim instructor.

This video is so funny. His teacher had to unfold his limbs to get him into the backfloat position. He looked like a little armadillo being opened up.

For dinner, we had Hawaiian food and then stopped for boba drinks after!

3 years old

We still can’t believe our little Peanut is 3 years old now!! He’s learned so much this past year and has so much language and spunk! We got a photo of him with Senor Fatty Duck Duck on his big day.

He transitioned to the Butterflies class this past year and flourished. He learned so many songs, how to ride a tricycle, and even started potty training! He no longer needs his pacifier but still uses his blanket for comfort when he’s upset or tired.

This guy loves trucks, trains, emergency vehicles, Paw Patrol, all the things his sister likes, his “chooky chooky” claw, swinging, climbing, and jumping. He learned to like carrots finally and still has a good appetite. He’s traveled to Hong Kong this past year and did great on his first international flight and trip. He also survived and loved camping for the first and second time this summer. He also sleeps next to Janie in his own toddler bed and loves being in the same room as his sister. Just in this past month, he has figured out the potty training thing and can sleep through the night and stays dry!

For his birthday dinner, we all went out to Trabocco to celebrate. He LOVES spaghetti and was so fired up about his birthday that evening.

We are so proud of his little boy who can sing too many songs to keep count. He also learned how to take a shower and doesn’t mind having the water poured over his head. The Tadpole swim class helped him overcome his fear of going underwater and jumping in to the pool. He also doesn’t mind floating on his back with help.

The chef brought out a birthday candle on top of a scoop of ice cream and blew out his candle. He also got a couple ride tokens and went for a mini carousel ride with Janie before heading home.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Peanut!! We love you and can’t wait to see what else you learn and accomplish this next year!

Birthday at School

Peanut went to school on his birthday and we dropped off one of his favorite books to share with the classroom. Ms. Gladys read “Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site” to the class during circle time.

He also did some painting.

Yai picked up Peanut from school today and they had a fun time walking home.

Coach Kyle

This week, Janie was reunited with “Coach Kyle”. He’s the nephew of one of Mama’s friends (Aunty Karen) and works at Harbor Bay Club in the summers. He just finished his first year at UCLA and returned for another summer.

Here is a photo of Janie when she first met him back in 2012.

This morning, Mama dropped Janie off to say “hello” to Kyle and they warmed up together before camp started.

Janie is really enjoying Tennis Camp this summer. Her coaches say that she has lots of energy, keeps up with the older kids, and follows directions well. We are happy that she has found a sport that she really likes.

Father’s Day

After Janie’s swim lesson this morning, we stopped at the Island Jam Festival nearby.

The kids enjoyed the train ride and we also went down the big slide. Janie said it was “too fast” and Peanut said “AGAIN!!” It’s funny how different they are.

Next, we walked over to East Ocean for dim sum.

After dim sum, we met up with Zoe and Maya to celebrate Father’s Day at Almanac Brewery.
