On our drive home today, Janie said, “I want french fries, hamburger, and ketchup. Not chicken. Hamburger.” So, that’s what we had tonight.
We went out to Super Duper and I gave her half of my burger and she at it all except for two last bites. This kid usually doesn’t like hamburgers or sandwiches but she ate this one with gusto tonight. If she learns to like sandwiches just as much, maybe preschool lunches will be easier to pack after all.
Today was Mama’s last day of work so Janie had her last day at My First Steps Daycare. She woke up happy, took her shoes off when we arrived, and sat on her morning chair as usual.
Mama gave Tia Maria a box of fruit popsicles for a special afternoon snack.
Tia was nice enough to take some pictures and it looked like they all enjoyed them.
She also sent a coupe of photos of her eating lunch with all her buddies a few months ago.
Tia also had this made for her – it’s a big poster of her handprint (top left), all her classmates, and her two teachers (bottom right).
Janie was really good about giving hugs to her teachers and saying goodbye to her friends. It was kind of sad to take home all of the stuff in her cubby. I guess Mama was feeling a little sentimental. Our little girl is going to start preschool like a big kid very soon.
This afternoon, Janie made up for earlier this week by playing on her own and doing what she was told. She played quietly with her Legos while Mama tidied up the house.
She likes to sort the tiny pieces into the basket. She also cleaned up when she was all done.
As a reward, she got to watch the “dancing show” and was good enough to stay in one spot while Mama made dinner.
After dinner, there were no arguments about taking a bath or changing into her pjs. When Dada came home, they sat at the table together for Dada’s dinner and Janie’s “dessert rice” and mango.
This afternoon, Janie was in a much better mood. When we got home, she snacked on the bell pepper she picked out at Safeway.
Then she opened and ate the banana she found in Mama’s lunch bag.
She also had a fun time with Dada when he got home from work.
For dinner, she had a hearty chicken soup and dipped some of Mama’s bread in the soup.
We went to Hillstone for a yummy Father’s Day steak dinner. Janie wasn’t quite done with her afternoon nap so she snuggled on Dada’s lap while we waited for our table.
Janie ate her fair share of smoked salmon today before her dinner arrived.
She switched seats and sat next to Dada when the food came and had her mashed potatoes, carrots (from home), and some of Daddy’s steak too.
Hey, where did she go?!
After dessert, Janie said, “take a picture of me” and posed for the camera. Silly girl.
She was also willing to smile for a picture with Mama.
Happy Father’s Day, Dada!
We had lunch in Japantown today. We tried out an organic ramen place.
Janie played with her flashcards while we waited for the food to arrive.
She got some of Dada’s broth and noodles today. Yum.
Afterward, we stopped at the fish store where Janie payed a visit to her favorite fishie – it’s the black moor goldfish with the big eyes and says “mum mum mum”.
She also watched the fish guy catch 6 red shrimp for us to take home.
This morning, Janie drew a picture for Dada. She wanted the Hungry Caterpillar so Mama helped draw the caterpillar and Janie colored it in. She also made the big leaf, brown cocoon, and sun.
She was so excited to show Dada what she made when he woke up.
Then she helped Mama make some pancakes.
She’s getting pretty good at mixing.

She was so happy to be able to eat the pancakes when they were done.
After breakfast, she also invited Dada over to the table for some dessert.
This evening was going to be busy. Janie got picked up from school and showed off her flower picture.
After picking up Dada, we headed over to UCSF Mission Bay for a tour of the new hospital where Baby Brother will be born. Janie came along and did ok with staying with the group.
Right afterward, we parked the car at home and hopped on the train to the Apple Store. Mama had to get her phone fixed.
Then we went to the Thai restaurant around the corner for dinner.
We didn’t get back until late but Janie went straight to bed when we got home.
Dada had to buy some stuff for his work meeting so we stopped at Costco before dinner. Janie got to ride in the big part of the shopping cart today and did a nice job staying in her spot.
Then we went across the street and she said she wanted “PIZZA!!!!” so that’s what she got.
Janie watched the Warriors win their first championship in 40 years today. She asked for another taco party just like we did last week.
