The Embarcadero

IMG_1078

Uncle Huy is in town this weekend!  We met up with him and Auntie To at Yank Sing for some dim sum in the morning.

Peanut and To compared bellies.  Peanut looks like Humpty Dumpty in this picture.

IMG_1089

After dim sum, we went across to the Ferry Plaza for ice cream.  Janie helped Peanut with his bottle.

IMG_1093

We then stopped for a snack at Epic Roasthouse and sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the bay.

Janie got a giant glass of milk with her meatballs.

What a fun day outside on The Embarcadero!!

not a cheap date

IMG_1052

This girl still amazes us. Mama and Dada ordered hamachi sashimi today and when it arrived on the table, she grabbed one and gobbled it up.

Then she went for a second one and would have finished the plate if we didn’t stop her.
Boy, this kid has expensive taste. She is not going to be a cheap date when she grows up.

Aquarium

IMG_1020

Peanut visited the aquarium for the first time today and seemed to be interested in the fishies.

IMG_1017

Janie touched the starfish and sea urchin today.

IMG_1030

Janie wanted to go to the butterfly house.  She’s learning about bugs in school this month.

We also had a snack outside in the patio.  Celery and peanut butter is so yummy!

Fleet Week Air Show

IMG_0809

We made an epic journey across town to watch the Blue Angels fly.  The eight of us took a train, a very crowded bus, and walked a whole lot to get down to Aquatic Park past Fisherman’s Wharf.  Janie did a great job staying close to us and holding on to the stroller and our hands throughout the trip.

IMG_0814

We were originally going to head all the way over to Marina Green but the spot we picked on the other side of the hill was just fine for us.  We laid down picnic blankets and Peanut and the twins got to stretch out.  It was surprising to Mama that he was so happy being flat on the blanket for so long.  He just babbled, kicked his legs, and hung out long enough for Mama to eat lunch!  His legs got some sun while Mama shaded his face from behind.

IMG_0825

Janie used Dada as a chair for part of the time.

IMG_0843

Later, he became a cot too.

IMG_0833

Peanut and Thomas wore matching outfits today and looked so cute next to each other.

IMG_0849

During the latter half of the air show, Peanut fell asleep after getting all bundled up.

IMG_0855

Can you find him on the blanket?!  Toni and Thomas were also sleeping over by Auntie Jia who is in orange.  They were all covered up to shield them from the noise.

IMG_0872

The Blue Angels didn’t seem to bother Peanut but it did wake him up toward the end.  It was actually Janie that said it was too loud.  She hid in the stroller with the sun shade pulled over her for part of the show.

IMG_0879

After a long walk home, the babies all got changed and fed at home and then we went out one last time for dinner just down the street.

IMG_0880

Janie drew on her Boogie Board while she waited for her soup.

IMG_0881

For dinner, she had chicken soup and mashed potatoes.  Thomas hung out on Uncle Jason’s lap and looked longingly at uncle’s fried chicken.  What a fun but tiring day.  We were lucky to have good weather and no mishaps along the way.

Flu Shot

IMG_0886

Janie stayed home today because she had a new cold and was coughing so bad the night before. Mama took her to the doctor to get checked out since she’s also had a chronic cough that won’t go away.

IMG_0897

After the exam, Janie got a lollipop from the doctor for doing such a good job.

IMG_0898

What was even more impressive was that she got her first shot (this year’s flu vaccination) in the upper arm and didn’t cry.  In fact, she didn’t even flinch.  What a brave girl!!

Dinner at the Clubroom

IMG_0772

This afternoon, Jack, Reese, Rowan, and Isla came over with their parents for dinner.  We were lucky enough to get the Clubroom for our dinner party.  Janie set-up her tea set while Daddy prepared the steak.

IMG_0779

Peanut got to meet Auntie Michelle today.  She was very impressed by his weight and sturdiness.

IMG_0781

Janie had dinner at the counter with Reese while the others sat at the tables.

IMG_0787

The kids were super rowdy after dinner but then settled down to watch Madagascar 2 before heading home.

Curriculum Night

IMG_0673

This afternoon, Janie’s school had Curriculum Night.  All the parents came by at 4:15 and joined the class for circle time.  They passed around the Talking Stick and said a little something with the group.

IMG_0674

The class had also prepared a Family Book from pictures that we had sent to school.  Her other teacher, Sharla, read each student’s page from the book.  I missed the beginning of Janie’s page but caught most of it on video.

Hm…this is all pretty accurate stuff!

IMG_0676

Afterward, we got to explore the classroom and saw one of Janie’s paintings on the wall.  She titled it “a butterfly”.

IMG_0680

They are learning about bugs right now and have a big ladybug habitat in the classroom.

IMG_0683

IMG_0684

Janie painted black dots on her ladybug and glued googly eyes too.

IMG_0681

She also had snack with her friends.  This little girl next to her is Gabby.  Mama had a conversation with her mom the other day and learned that Janie and Gabby used to go to story time at the library all the time.  Her mom recognized her when Gabby first started this preschool.  What a small world!

IMG_0692

For dinner, we went to Public House and it looks like Janie still likes the taste of lemons.

She also thought it was too dark outside so she brought her dinosaur flashlight with her for the walk to and from the restaurant.
