Watch us grow!
We celebrated New Year’s Eve with a nice steak dinner at home and watched the ball drop on TV.
We celebrated with champagne and apple juice. This was the first year Janie actually celebrated with us and had fun clinking glasses and saying “Happy New Year!”
Peanut also woke up for the celebration but then shortly went back to sleep.

This evening, we went out to the mall for dinner. We all needed to get out of the house for a bit.
At the restaurant, Janie got a menu to color and ordered the hummus and veggies plate.
She also got some of the pretzel bites that we ordered.
Peanut needed to be walked around toward the end of dinner and only perked up when taken around the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree.
Otherwise, this is what he looked like.
We later went to the food court for some frozen yogurt and Peanut cheered up at times. Janie took this photo of Mama but didn’t quite get all of Peanut in the frame.
Here he is fussing some more. He wiggled so much that we couldn’t keep his socks on!
At the mall, we stopped at a few stores and Mama found these two seated side-by-side at the Microsoft store.
Daughter and Dada are so cute when they are getting along.
This morning we packed up the car and said goodbye to the Buena Park House along with Ankong and Ama. Before heading out, we had lunch with them.

At lunch, Peanut was blowing some pretty big raspberries.
The drive was smooth but we made lots of stops to keep everyone happy. Peanut did pretty good sleeping most of the way and only had one bout of crying. Janie had at least half a hamburger for dinner. We were so proud of her big bites. It’s crazy that this kid eats anything with the exception of things in sandwich form.
Peanut hung out in a highchair while the family ate. He also gave his new teething toy at try.

We made it home in about 8 hours. Not too bad.
The girls went out for a walk to the local ice cream shop down the street from Yai and Ta’s house. Dada reported that Janie was extra grouchy on the walk over and even growled at him. However, once they arrived at the shop, it seemed all was good again. It must be the free kid’s cone!
Janie hitched a ride on Dada’s shoulders on the way home and tried not to drip chocolate ice cream on his head.
This morning, Peanut wore the new sweater vest he received from Auntie Terry and pants he received from Ama. He looked so spiffy and was ready for church this morning!

Janie went to Sunday School this morning with Ama and returned with so many snacks! She’s looking extra sneaky eating her chocolate treat in the corner there.
The whole family came over for Christmas dinner again this year. Auntie Hannah (Dada’s cousin) finally got to meet Peanut.
Here he is with GAuntie Jeanie. He did well getting passed around to everyone.
Dada made prime rib with all the fixings. Janie had at least half of Mama’s slice.
She later got a little tired and sat on Dada’s lap while he ate.
Peanut was eyeing Mama’s dinner plate and almost got a handful of mashed potato.
All the cousins played Settlers of Catan and the kids helped set up the board.
It was a fun (and late) evening for everyone!
Peanut met Mama and Dada’s college pals this evening. They were in love with his chubby thighs and cheeks. Auntie Sandy and Auntie Linda took turns carrying him but they couldn’t last much longer than 1-2 minutes at a time before tapping out.
We also weighed him and he measured 22 pounds!! Yikes.
We got home so late that Janie (and Dada) were hungry for chicken soft tacos. Janie ate an entire taco on her own this evening! This was a first for her. She really WAS hungry.
Janie loves Cuties, which she calls “mandarinas” (mandarin orange in Spanish). Peeling them is almost as fun as eating them.
Peanut was hanging out on the floor this morning while she was eating them and Janie let him take a closer look.
Janie went out to lunch at Chipotle today with Dada and he captured her various expressions as she was eating.
This one is his favorite. In fact, it’s now on his lock screen on his phone.
We spent our last full day at the pool. We had perfect weather and everyone had a great time.

Janie was starving after an hour in the pool. Thankfully, we had some musubi on hand.
This little guy lounged on his floatie after being in the pool and quickly fell asleep in just a few minutes.

At lunch, Peanut joined Mama at the poolside bar and we picked up a hearty snack for big sister.
It’s great that kids eat free with a paid adult meal.
Back at the pool, Peanut enjoyed lounging on the chair with Mama while Janie went back in the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
