This kid is crazy sometimes. He was trying to eat my arm this morning.
pizza party
There was a pizza party for Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason this evening in San Carlos.
Janie loved the pizza and ate her own salad too.
We had to leave early because Peanut was really fussy but we’re so glad we could be there. On our drive home, Janie said, “I’m gonna miss Auntie Jia and Toni. And Uncle Jason and Thomas too.”

Our little boy is 23 weeks old today! It’s hard to believe that he’ll be 6 months old soon. Where has the time gone?!
This week was a rough one for him because he was still recovering from a cold. It made it hard for him to sleep and woke up more frequently than usual at night. Luckily, he was a good napper most of the days. This week, Peanut met Mirian and her daughter Andrea for the first time. They’re going to be coming over when Mama starts working on 1/21.
He’s doing a great job sitting and we regularly put him in a highchair when we go out to eat now. He also rolled from his back to his tummy on his own this week.
The most exciting part of the week is that he tried solids for the first time: avocado and apple. He seems to prefer apple and only eats about 1 tablespoon per day for now. Otherwise, he seems to want to put everything else in his mouth including this duck. Here’s a video of him taking a big chomp out of him.

Japanese food
One of Janie’s favorite places to eat in the neighborhood is a Japanese place across the street. Today, we got a kid’s bento box that was cheap and big enough to share with Mama.
Peanut was also very good about sitting in his highchair and playing with his toys.

We tried apple today! Looks like he may be enjoying it more than avocado…or he’s just getting the hang of this eating thing that we keep trying.

Peanut has little highlights in his hair just like Janie did (and still does).
Second Try – Success!
Peanut had another try of avocado today and did much better. He still made funny faces but he swallowed quite a bit and would smile after.

First Try – Failed
We tried avocado today but he was having an extra-fussy day and he only wanted to eat his new bib.
We did manage to get a little avocado in his mouth but I don’t think he swallowed any. We will just have to try again tomorrow.
Farmers Market
It’s been a while since we last went to the Farmers Market and today was a very pretty day for a walk down The Embarcadero.
Janie helped pick out brussel spouts again. I don’t know why she is so fascinated by this vegetable right now.
We also picked out a few things that Peanut was going to try. This purple cauliflower was so pretty.
For lunch, we went to Gott’s and this is how Janie entertained herself in line.
Her favorite part of going to the Farmers Market is the soft serve – specifically vanilla and chocolate swirl!!

Janie ran/walked all the way home and still had plenty of energy to spare.
