Parent Day

IMG_1656

School was closing early today so I had to leave work early to get there on time. It also happened to be Parent Day and I caught the tail end of it. When she saw me, she said “you’re late!” Oh well, at least I was there for some of it.

All the kids had a gift for their parents. Hers said “My mom’s job is to put Peanut to bed and to bring me my giraffe. Dad’s job is reading books to us.”

She also had a quick snack of strawberries, pound cake, and whipped cream before heading home.

On the board this month are new Words of Wisdom. The question this month is “How I Help My Mom and Dad”.

IMG_1664

Janie said “I help Mom and Dad with Peanut.  I put the bottle in the kitchen.”

She also drew this house on the table cover on the snack table. She pointed it out across the table and said the star at the top was for Mama “for doing everything by herself without Daddy”. I thought I was gonna cry.

Just the 3 of us.

With Dada away, the kids had to be on their best behavior this morning. Somehow we managed to get everyone fed, dressed, and down in the garage by 7:45 for Mirian to arrive. Janie even slept last night without a pull-up and stayed dry! Let’s hope the rest of the week goes just as smoothly.

Quiet Sunday Evening

IMG_1551

After a jam-packed day, both kids fell asleep in the car on our way back to SF. Mama somehow got them both upstairs with all our stuff and they both stayed asleep for another 1.5 hours! So nice.

IMG_1555

For dinner, we stayed in and Peanut went to town on the meatloaf.

Once he fell asleep, Janie quietly played with her Magna-Tiles and Gups. It was nice way to end a fun-filled weekend.

Oakland Baby Shower

IMG_1537

Right after Auntie Teresa’s house, was a baby shower for one of Mama’s co-workers. Peanut and Max shared snacks together while Janie played with Mako and all his Octonaut toys.

IMG_1540

She almost didn’t want to leave since he had an Octopod and a bunch of regular-sized Gups. This kid was on Cloud Nine.

Washington Bakery

IMG_1508

This morning, we had breakfast at Washington Bakery in Chinatown. Janie loves warm soy milk and got her very own mug today. She felt like such a big kid.

IMG_1510

Peanut also got some jook and could not get enough of it. He was sitting in his stroller and did a pull-up at the table for every bite.

Gott’s

IMG_1458

Today after work, Peanut and Mama rode the train down to the Ferry Plaza to meet up with Janie and Dada.

IMG_1459

Here she comes!!

IMG_1460

We had dinner at Gott’s today and Peanut had fun snacking on puffs and meatball pieces.

IMG_1461

The container lid was fun too.

IMG_1465

IMG_1466

Dada also hooked him up with his first french fry ever!

IMG_1467

It was no surprise that he loved it.

IMG_1476

Janie got some vanilla ice cream for dessert too.

IMG_1480

On our walk home, Janie was super excited to see a huge Elsa on the building across the street!!

Cherries!!!

IMG_1373

On a whim, we decided to drive to Brentood (an hour from home) to go pick our own cherries.  Janie loves cherries so she was fired up for it! We went to Chavez U-Pick Cherry Farm where they have the cheapest price per pound ($3.50/lb).

IMG_1335

With bucket in hand, Janie went to town on those trees. It’s nice that the trees are super low to the ground so she was able to do all the picking herself without needing a ladder or someone to lift her up.

IMG_1348

With the picking, there was lots of snacking too.  This kid had a great time doing both.

IMG_1351

IMG_1374

Peanut also got to taste his first cherries and LOVED it.

IMG_1340

He was fighting Dada for each and every piece and Dada couldn’t keep up!

IMG_1344

Nom nom nom…

IMG_1346

IMG_1356

We ended up with about a half bucket. It was all Janie could carry.

IMG_1362

Of course, there was a little quality control inspection before heading to the scale but she did a pretty good job!

IMG_1369

I think Peanut had just as good of a time. Those cherries were so sweet!!

IMG_1367

We actually managed to get a decent family photo together today too.

IMG_1384

When we got home, Mama washed them all and put them in a giant container in the fridge. Yum!! This 4-pound batch should last us about a week.
