Udon Morning

img_9005

It’s another early morning for this boy and his Mama so we picked up udon from Marukame Udon and brought it back to the hotel room for big sister.

img_9008

Thanks to Auntie Yoon’s tray table, the two kids had a nice breakfast together on the floor. Hooray for morning udon!!

Lunch at Duke’s

img_8941

We had lunch at Duke’s today.

img_8942

Mama ordered the buffet lunch so Peanut had plenty of kalua pork, rice, and teriyaki chicken to eat.

img_8949

He also had at least 4 watermelon wedges.

img_8959

Janie had quite a few of her own.

And take a look at this sneaky face. He just learned how to do this on this trip.

He thinks he’s so funny when he does it.

Day at Aulani

img_8721

This morning, we drove 45 minutes north to Disney Aulani Resort. They are situated on a public beach/lagoon so we got to try it out.

img_8730

The lagoon was super shallow and Janie had such a good time playing in the water.

img_8734

img_8744

For lunch, we ate at ‘Ama ‘Ama Restaurant. The kids each got their own water cup, which made Peanut very happy.

img_8754

img_8757

Janie ordered a kid’s meal and it came with an ice cream sundae complete with Mickey-shaped sprinkles and a cherry on top.

img_8759

We found the statue of Stitch and the kids did a good job posing with him.

img_8773

Although we weren’t allowed in the Lazy River or resort pool, it was still fun to explore the grounds.

Pool Time

img_8594

We later went back up to the room to change into our swim suits and then headed back down to the pool. The weather forecast said there would be no rain and it was right.

img_8616

img_8606

img_8637

With rain in the forecast later in the week, we made the most of our time in the sun.

img_8657

For lunch, we went to our usual katsu place and it was Janie’s first time eating there since she’s usually sleeping every time we go. Both kids loved their rice and curry.

After lunch, Mama and the kids took a long nap while Dada read his book.

Peanut woke up first so Dada took him down to the lobby to walk around. He even scored some ice cream!! Lucky boy!

5 long hours

img_8492

Today we flew to Hawaii and despite the shortened 5-hour flight, it wasn’t the best flight we’ve ever had. First of all, it was a completely full flight. That meant there weren’t any extra seats available for Peanut.

img_8495

That meant we had a very squirmy and noisy toddler on our laps…and on the floor and aisle. He did manage to take two naps but there were times when he was fussy (right before he fell asleep) and quite a nuisance to everyone around us.

img_8499

Our solution for his squirminess was to having him sit in the aisle after the meal service. He happily played with a plastic cup and a string of beads that Mama brought from home.

img_8504

Janie did a great job (as usual) since she had plenty to do and watch on her iPad. She even took a quick 30-minute cat nap on Dada’s lap.

img_8522

Once we landed, we are all smiles again but very hungry. As soon as we parked our rental car at the hotel, we went straight to Dada’s favorite ramen shop for a very late lunch.

img_8526

Luckily, our little monster was sound asleep and everyone got to eat in peace.

Back at the hotel, we checked in and everyone got a bath.

img_8534

Then it was back outside for dinner with Auntie Yoon, Uncle Kurt, and Trevor.

img_8543

The kids enjoyed their poke tacos, broccolini, pizza, and mac-n-cheese. By the end of dinner, we were all ready to go to bed.

Walking Home

img_8395

The kids decided that they wanted to walk back to the house. It was slow-going but Janie and Toni made it all the way home while Peanut made it halfway, and Thomas got a ride for most of the way.

Once we got back to the house, it was lunchtime for the toddlers. Looks like a daycare in here!

Chinatown

img_8388

For breakfast, we went to Chinatown for some jook. Everyone loves Washington Bakery and the kids ate well.

img_8389

Just outside of the restaurant are a bunch of toy machines. Janie did a great job eating and staying in her chair so we treated her to a “surprise egg”.

Dessert

img_8357

After dinner, we watched part of Finding Dory together.

img_8360

We had pecan pie and ice cream for dessert. Look at this swarm of toddlers surrounding Auntie Jia and her dessert.

img_8364

The kids took turns getting tastes of ice cream. Yum!

Thanksgiving 2016

img_8333

After all three toddlers took a late nap, they woke up refreshed and ready to play.

img_8336

Meanwhile Dada made Thanksgiving dinner for us all.

img_8337

Peanut was getting hungry and wanted Thanksgiving to start right way.

img_8340

We had all the usual fixings and Janie helped set the table.

img_8343

Peanut had his first Thanksgiving meal and loved the turkey.

img_8346

He also got a small portion of all the sides and loved using his fork to stab everything.

img_8349

Janie especially loved her Dada’s mashed potatoes. She says they’re the best.

img_8354

Everyone enjoyed the tasty feast and it was so much fun to have Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia back in town.
