Eating and drinking is not allowed on the transbay bus but Janie snuck in a few Nerds on the bus ride home today. So sneaky…

We found a Thai restaurant on Park Street where Janie and Dada’s bus stops. So Mama, Yai, and Peanut met up with them for dinner tonight.

Before heading home, the kids got some fresh strawberry gelato.

Peanut did a happy dance with each little spoonful.

Janie has been asking for hot pot since we bought the new house and she got her wish this evening. She helped cook the meat and Peanut tried to use chopsticks.

It was a good thing we had dinner so early because Peanut was so tired midway through and had to go to bed. He was down by 6:30! School really wipes this guy out.

While Janie was at the birthday party, Mama and Yai took Peanut to lunch at the local Mexican restaurant. He tasted the salsa and was hooked!

Got so crazy that he just started eating it with a spoon.

He also loved the rice and beans.
He also got a hold of a lime wedge and pretended to season his rice.

Peanut was very excited to see Yai today when she picked him up from school. He nearly pushed this little girl out of the way.

Once Janie got home, the two kids played together on the sofa.

Then Yai made them some dinner while Mama and Dada went back to the condo again to move more of our stuff.

Dada made some steak tonight and Peanut was a big fan of the green beans.

On our first weekend in our new home started with a trip back to the SF condo to meet with a realtor and to pick up some more items. Janie came along and had to keep herself busy in the condo during our appointment. She was also squished in the back seat of the car with a bunch of boxes. As a special treat for being so good (and patient), she got her first Happy Meal. It came with 4 Chicken McNuggets, a tiny bag of fries, yogurt, and a Hot Wheels car. Fun!

In the afternoon, the kids had a fun time in the patio. They played bubbles, watered the plants and enjoyed the fresh air.

Janie also got to ride her scooter around the “front yard”. Boy oh boy…our weekends are definitely looking a lot different than they used to.

Yai picked up Peanut from school and he was so happy to see her.

When he got home, he got a tasty snack while he watched the kids playing outside.

For dinner, we ordered Chinese food and had it delivered. We still don’t have all our pans and food from the SF house.

The kids had breakfast together this morning. It’s almost the same as before except Mimi doesn’t come over anymore and Peanut has to get ready for school too.

We got up early enough to have some peace and quiet before the frenzy of leaving for school started.

Today was Peanut’s first day of daycare. Dada and Mama drove him to Alameda and dropped him off around 11:00 am for a short trial run. The kids had just finished eating lunch and were settling down for a nap when we arrived. The teacher had an extra meal for him so he sat down to eat with Mama by his side.

He had quite a bit to eat and was happy to watch the kids trying to nap.

Then it was his turn. They had a cot ready for him in the middle of the other kids. Mama put him down with BooBoo and his blanket and he just stayed there. At that point, it was time for Mama to say goodbye.

At noon, we picked up the keys to our new house and moved a few items in. By the afternoon, it was time to pick up Peanut and we found him sitting at the table with his classmates.

He’s in the youngest class, named the Honeybees, and he’s probably the youngest one in his class too.

Looks like he settled in just nicely today. He didn’t even need BooBoo by the end of the day. Teacher said he took only a short nap and did rather well for his first day.

When it was time to go, he insisted on putting his backpack on.

He even waved goodbye to his new teacher, Rosi, as we left.

Here he is in the multi-purpose room. This school is huge!!

We’re glad he had a fun first day. We just hope the following days are just as good.
