Drive to Monterey

IMG_4860

At the last minute, we booked a hotel room in Monterey and decided to make a quick overnight trip to the aquarium. The drive was a little painful with so much Friday night traffic. Luckily the kids slept part of the way and had enough energy to go out later than normal once we got checked in.

Dinner

IMG_4571

Mama picked up Peanut from school and brought him home for a little TLC.  His teeth were really hurting. Later in the evening, we headed to the ferry terminal to pick up Janie and Dada for dinner.

IMG_4575

He was so happy to see his big sister.

IMG_4579

For dinner, we went to La Penca Azul so that Peanut could have some mushy food – refried beans and rice.

IMG_4576

These two had a fun time sitting next to each other at the table.  Although, I’m not sure how much food was actually consumed this evening.

They did, however, love the ice cold water they got from the waiter.

22 months

IMG_4317

Our little boy is 22 months old today! It’s hard to believe that in two months he’ll be two years old!!

IMG_4323

We had a fun month filled with new concepts, new language, and a trip down to Southern California.

IMG_4326

Here are the highlights:

  • New Words: outside, all wet, Paw Patrol, sit down, open it, close, yellow, purple, pink, orange, more please, love you, I want, you ok?, push, buckle
  • New Food: garbanzo, black olive
  • Songs: Baby Beluga, Five Little Monkeys, ABC Song
  • New Concepts: Counting to 10 in English and Spanish
  • Gross Motor: Mastered riding Moo Cow, figured out how to ride Big Sister’s scooter
  • Self-Care: Takes his socks and shoes off, allowing Mama to brush his teeth with less fussing
  • Milestone: Tolerated his glasses for the first time and wears when once in a while
  • Favorites: books, singing, climbing, blowing bubbles, following sister around
  • Travel: Flew to Southern California, moved to a front-facing big-kid carseat

This kid loves school and has learned so much in such a short amount of time. He comes home singing a new song every week and we catch him doing new things like naming colors and throwing away his snack plate when he’s done.

Happy 22 Months, Peanut! Love you!

Coconut

IMG_4312

We had Thai food for lunch with Yai and Ta today before heading to the airport and Janie got her very own fresh coconut. She loves the juice and the meat inside. With Yai’s help, she almost finished the whole thing herself.

Afternoon with Friends

IMG_4146

The day started with just lunch at the new Islands in the Cerritos Towne Center. Mama and Dada got to catch up with their old friends from highschool (Holly and Dayantha) while the kids sat next to each other and colored.

IMG_4147

Then we walked around the plaza and got some soft serve nearby. This is when the smiles and the conversations started.

IMG_4150

It was getting hot outside so we all met up at Yai and Ta’s house. The grown-ups hung out while the kids played together.

IMG_4162

At one point, we had almost all the kids in the sandbox together. Janie and Andrew made tortillas while Peanut and Sienna “helped”.

IMG_4173

IMG_4184

Oliver preferred to stay out of the sand and play nearby.

IMG_4190

In the evening, three of the kids got in the back of Auntie Holly’s car to drop off Sienna and then we went to Daiso.

IMG_4191

Andrew and Janie ended up with a water toy to bring home.

IMG_4193

These two ended up having a great time together today. Last time they got to spend this much time together was in Hawaii 3 years ago. Too bad we don’t live closer.

Dinner in Buena Park

IMG_4110

We went to Toni and Thomas’ house today for a BBQ. Peanut watched Dada and Uncle Jason get the grill ready while he had his snack.

IMG_4113

Auntie Jia put up their playhouse and Janie played with Thomas inside. They were making donut cakes.

IMG_4140

IMG_4115

Peanut later gave it a try and insisted that he use the back door to get in and out.

Ankong and Ama came in the evening and took Janie and Peanut to the park. Toni and Thomas stayed behind and played peek-a-boo behind the couch.

The kids had corn on the cob with dinner and Peanut gobbled up a bunch of steak.

IMG_4136

Once the twins went to bed, Peanut hung out in Ankong’s lap and got a good laugh.

IMG_4138

We were there pretty late and it was way past their bedtimes. Luckily, they held it together pretty well and then fell asleep on the short ride back to Cerritos.

Bubba Gump’s

IMG_4071

After the aquarium, we all went across the driveway to Bubba Gump’s for lunch. Toni was not a fan of sitting up high on Uncle Jason’s shoulders.

IMG_4072

We got seated outside and the kids had fun with the kid’s menu and crayons. Even Peanut go into it.

IMG_4074

Alice showed us all how she can write her name now.

IMG_4081

After lunch, the kids shared a sundae together. The toppings came on the side so they could choose what they wanted.

IMG_4085

IMG_4087

It got divvied up between all the kids and Peanut couldn’t get enough of the ice cream.
