Watch us grow!
It’s July 3rd but also a Monday. Dada and Janie had the day off while Mama and Peanut did not. In the morning, Peanut got a special breakfast made by Dada before he was dropped off at school. Then Janie and Dada spent the day relaxing at home.
They walked to Safeway to buy bread for their tuna/egg/pickle sandwiches for lunch.
They also spent the afternoon watching Good Eats. For some reason, Janie thought it was a good idea to lay on the coffee table.
What a fun Daddy-Daughter Day!
This afternoon we went to the Southshore Shopping Center. Janie insisted we stop at one of her favorite stores – Daiso!
The kids cooled off under an umbrella with their snacks after doing some intense shopping at 4 different stores.
Back at home, they spent some time out in the garden together where they shared snacks.
They eventually moved to the doorway where it was cooler.
Before bed, they had a fun time together in the bathtub. I hope they have this much fun together as they grow up.
Dada had the day off so Janie got to stay home too. While Mama was at work and Peanut was at school, they went on an Alameda Adventure together. They took the bus to the main Alameda Library and read some books together.
Then then headed to Chipotle for some lunch. This kid really loves Chipotle.
Afterward, they stopped at See’s Candies and Janie got a candy pop to enjoy in the sun.
As per our tradition, we celebrated with oysters. We walked down to Hog Island Oyster Company for one of Janie’s favorite treats – raw oysters with all the fixings.

Peanut also enjoyed some grilled squid and was particularly fond of the tentacles. He ate at least 8 of them today!
Then we all took the ferry back to Alameda. Janie showed off her Clipper card as our ferry arrived at the dock.
She also got a photo with her favorite crew member, Chris. He made a point to come over to introduce himself to Mama and Peanut today. Every evening as she gets off the ferry, he says “See you later, Alligator.” And she responds back with “Tootaloo, Kangaroo!”
Peanut comes home pretty hungry from school. Today, he had peaches and actually ate the skin!
It was also getting late so he had a pre-dinner of rice soup.
This boy loves rice just like his Dada.
Mama went out for an early-morning run and watched the two kids playing together in Peanut’s room while Dada was still asleep. If you look at the time stamp, it was only 6:49 in the morning!
For breakfast, they had scrambled eggs and looked extra hungry.
Then they played together with their toys scattered all over the place.
Later in the morning, the neighbor kids came over to play for a bit.
Then we went out for lunch and a Costco trip. They were exhausted by noon and passed out on the car ride home.
Peanut gets dropped off at school so early in the morning that we pack a breakfast for him. Lately he’s been enjoying yogurt and chicken/spinach sausage.
It was hot in Alameda today but the kids had a good time trying to stay cool.
They helped with washing the car and had yummy frozen lemonade pops too!
We stayed at Spindrift Inn, which serves a complimentary continental breakfast that is delivered to your room.
It came complete with fresh fruit, cereal, toast, yogurt, milk, juice, and coffee. The kids ate breakfast in fancy armchairs while watching Good Eats on the TV.
This guy has a newfound love for yogurt.
