We took Janie to hip-hop class and Peanut did a good job waiting.

He kept himself entertained with some snacks and the books on the shelf.

Then before heading home, we stopped in Oakland for some pizza at Arizmendi.

Watch us grow!

This evening, the kids stayed home instead of playing outside like they usually do. They sat together watching some cartoons while Dada enjoyed his new lounge chair.

For dinner, it was warm enough to eat outside so Dada did some grilling and the kids ate together at their table.

Once we got back to Alameda, the kids were treated to a lunch at Chipotle. They shared a kids meal and Peanut did a great job staying on the bench next to his big sister.

Then we took the long way back to the car and walked past their favorite statue of the deer and fawn.

Peanut thought it would be funny to ride the fawn. Look at his face.

Peanut had his 2-year check-up. He still hates being weighed and measured. Janie came along to keep him company.
Here are the stats:
Weight: 29 lbs, 13 oz (82nd percentile) – slimming down
Length: 33 in (10th percentile) – we’ve got a shortstack

Dr. Kaplan also gave him his first (sugarfree) lollipop and he loved it.

After the appointment, we went to the playground at Dolores Park.

The kids went down the long curvy slide together.

They also played on the swings before we headed back over the bridge to Alameda.

This boy turned TWO today. Yikes. He’s really turned into a little boy with a big personality. His birthday dinner was at La Penca Azul and he did a great job making (and eating) his own birthday burrito.

We also got him a cupcake and sang to him. He loved the singing and blew out the candles with a little help from big sis.

He also tried the cake this year but still said “don’t like it” and handed his half to big sis.

Instead, he opted for ice cream and demolished it. In addition to ice cream, he’s become very fond of berries and peaches. He enjoys a banana, Hawaiian bread, and yogurt for breakfast at school. He’s broken out of his hate for carrots and will eat them cooked or raw now. Broccoli and green beans are still his favorite veggies. He also prefers salty over sweet and meat over carbs. However, he does love a big bowl of rice just like his Dada and can slurp down a handful of noodles like Mama.

He’s talking a bunch and understands so much more now. He LOVES to sing at the top of his lungs and doesn’t have any volume control. Baby Beluga, Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, and Brown Bear are his favorite hits at the moment with Itsy Bitsy and Baa Baa Black Sheep coming in close. He can count to about 13 in English and Spanish and will identify all the colors in the rainbow. He’s loving pink right now because he wants to be just like his sister.

Peanut picked up the scooter much earlier than his sister – mostly because it was available to him and he has plenty of kids to learn from. He’s also quite the risk taker on the playground and has learned how to sit and hold onto a regular swing without letting go and falling off.

His favorites: Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, Octonauts, and animals. Much of this was greatly influenced by what his sister is totally into right now. He enjoys coloring and cutting with scissors. He can use utensils, loves to practice cutting with a knife, and he’s very close to using chopsticks.

He loves his family with his whole heart and this includes his uncles, aunties, grandparents, and cousins. He recognizes them and can name them too.
I love his sense of humor. I love his hugs. I love his gusto for life in general. This boy usually has an opinion about everything and hopefully that will get him far in life.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Peanut! We love you to pieces and keep us on our toes every waking minute.

We drove across the Bay Bridge this afternoon for lunch at the Ferry Plaza.

Janie had a fun time looking out the window from her seat in the minivan. It’s higher up so she could actually see the ferry boats and the clock tower.

We had lunch at Hog Island Oyster Company.

Janie got some tasty oysters and Peanut had a plateful of grilled squid.

It was so fun hanging out in our old neighborhood!!

Peanut had a dentist appointment today and Janie tagged along for the day. Their favorite part of going to see Uncle Randy is the waiting area with old video game machines.

After the appointment, we stopped for bagels.

Blueberry bagels were a hit with both kids.

Then we met up with Avia and Sophie at Arbolada Park. They have a cool dual swing that’s perfect for these two.

After nap time, Janie went to Fenton’s with Mama to say goodbye to another co-worker.

The girls were delighted to have ice cream before dinner!!

Janie stayed home with Yai today while Peanut went to school for the day.

They took the bus to Southshore Center and had Chipotle for lunch.

Janie ordered her own food and then scored a candy pop from See’s afterward.

They later picked up Peanut from school and played on the swings when they got home. Mama and Dada were went to a concert tonight in Berkeley and wouldn’t be back until late.
Peanut also did some sweeping in front of the house before dinner.

Yai made macaroni for the kids and they gobbled it all up.

After school, Mama and Peanut picked up Dada and Janie at the ferry station.

Janie was very excited to see us.

We also went to Costco to pick up a new mattress for Janie’s room. Yai is coming tomorrow!!

For the most part, the kids get along when they sit in the cart together. This evening, they were particularly giggly with each other.

This evening, we had the whole family together for dinner to celebrate Peanut’s 2nd birthday.

We had quite a spread of food and Peanut was determined to pick up his food with chopsticks.

We had ice cream cake for him, everyone sang “Happy Birthday” and Big Sis helped him blow out the candles.

Our little boy doesn’t like cake so we got him a cake made with strawberry ice cream and white cake.

He tasted the cake one time and then demolished the ice cream half of his slice.

Ankong also hooked him up with a second slice!

We also managed to get all 6 cousins together in one photo.

It was a fun night with the family all together again.

Oh and Peanut got a giant set of Tinkertoys from Auntie Jia. Yay!
