Dole Plantation

We drove to the Dole Pineapple Plantation today and the kids were amused by the tiny pineapples growing out of the ground.

We also took a ride on the Pineapple Express and got a tour of the grounds, learned how pineapples are grown, and saw a variety of different trees and plants.

Peanut was excited to see a coconut tree.

The kids had a fun time exploring the garden on the way to the cafe.

As we waited for our Dole Whip, Peanut got a bag of chips and was found doing a little dance. Funny guy.

Auntie Yoon’s House

This evening, we drove to Kailua for dinner at Auntie Yoon’s house. The drive was long enough for both kids to get a nap. Peanut kept sleeping another 45 minutes once we arrived.

The kids played with Trevor, who loves Paw Patrol and trucks too.

Janie did some of her homework before dinner and drew a cool picture of her swimming in the ocean and going down the big slide.

While the grownups ate, the kids were treated to dinner in front of the tv.

Rain and Sun

We had off-and-on rain today at the beach. It would quickly change from sunny skies to pouring rain in less than a minute! The rain didn’t stop us from playing in the sand and the ocean though.

Here’s a funny one of Peanut falling of his face in the sand.

The kids had such a fun time floating around in the ocean.

In this photo, you can see the sky split between sun and rain.

Here’s a video of the kids playing in the pouring rain.

For lunch, we ate at Rum Fire. The kids eat free and also enjoyed a refreshing POG drink. Peanut was so pleased with his cherry on top.

Shave Ice

Auntie Amy, Uncle Jay, Amelia, and Ellie were flying back to Vancouver today so we had some shave ice before they had to head out to the airport.

Janie got pineapple and lychee and Peanut got strawberry and lilikoi.

Back at the hotel, the kids said their goodbyes and gave hugs. We will miss them but hope to see them again soon!!

Dinner and Fireworks

After our afternoon at the pool, we divided and conquered. The kids went upstairs to shower and change with their Moms while the Dads went out to pick up dinner. We ate in the hotel near the pool and then Dada treated all the kids to ice cream!

Then we hurried up to Amelia and Ellie’s room to watch the Friday Fireworks from their balcony.

Costco and a Nap

After lunch, we stopped Costco to see if they had any Hawaiian goodies and the kids got a smoothie sample in the shopping cart.

On the drive back to the hotel, they both got a good nap in the car. They should be ready for the beach and pool this afternoon.

Morning Walk

Janie was up early today and asked Mama, “can we go take a walk without the boys?” So we did and stopped at b. patisserie to pick up a chocolate croissant on our way to Marukame Udon.

It started to rain a bit but that didn’t stop us from getting some udon and spam musubi for breakfast.

Back at the hotel, Peanut had just woken up and we had a picnic in the hotel room before heading out to the pool again.

Early Morning

The kids were up super early this morning and sat quietly on the floor playing cards before Mama woke up.

By 6:15am, we were dressed and went downstairs to get a snack while Dada slept a bit more.

The hotel lobby always has special Christmas sand sculptures on display and it was empty enough to take some decent photos of the kids.

Then we took at walk to the nearby ABC Store to pick up some sand toys. We made it back to the beach in time to watch the sun come up!
