We love Friday afternoons. There are no errands to run, no meals to prepare for the next day, and plenty of time to hang out and play.

For dinner, Janie had udon and chicken. Yum.

Watch us grow!

Janie got some extra time with Mommy this afternoon when she came home early.

She got to play in the rice bin and did a really good job keeping most of it in the bucket today.

After our trip to Safeway, we went over to the water to play and enjoy the nice weather.

She brought her coloring pages and markers for some outdoor coloring.

Back at home, she spilled water all over her shirt so she sat shirtless for a while and played with foam dough.

Here she is showing off a little meatball and a big meatball. She loves having two of everything.

Then it was time for dinner. She enjoyed the leftover brisket and corn from yesterday’s potluck at Mommy’s work.

We had dinner at SOMA StrEats again and Janie had Burmese food tonight. She shared a bowl of coconut soup that had chicken and noodles in it. It was yummy and pretty messy too.

At Costco, we had to pick up milk and she had fun holding onto her crayons and scribbling in her notebook. She had to share the bucket seat with the prickly pineapple today.

She also tried on this snazzy camping hat.

Janie surprises me with her vocabulary every day. This afternoon, she asked for “fruta” (fruit in Spanish) and also tried to say “por favor” (please in Spanish).

Snacking at the kitchen counter is her thing nowadays. Stone fruits are in season right now and she’s loving it.
Here’s a video of her snacking and talking. She’s mixing three languages in this video: English, Spanish, and Thai, which is typical of our daily conversations. I’m amazed at how flexible she is in her thinking. In the middle of the video, I asked “what’s that?” in Thai and she answered “nam” (water in Thai). Then she says “no nom” (no in English and milk in Thai). Then I asked “what are you eating?” in Spanish and she answered me in Spanish.

Mommy had to work today so Janie spent Memorial Day with Daddy.

In the morning, she rode the scooter around the harbor.
Here’s so slo-mo scootering for you all to see.

Then they hopped on the train to go to the mall.

Lunch was at one of Daddy’s favorite places, Chipotle! Janie loves beans!

After her nap, she had some soup.

In the afternoon, Janie helped Daddy tidy up the house. Look at all the shoes!

Janie’s cheekster pal, Sophie, is expecting a little sister next month so she went with Mommy to her co-worker’s house in Oakland for Auntie Ranee’s Baby Sprinkle.

All her pals were there including Sophie, Vivian, Henry, and Sachi.

We brought lots of toys to share and they took over the small side room for some girl time.

It was as if she was hosting her own fancy tea party in there.

She even helped Baby Henry join in on the fun.

After the tea party was done, the girls also did a little coloring.

No party would be complete without a little ice cream. Janie got a little bit of strawberry ice cream for the first time today.

I’d say it was another successful Cheekster Playdate!

We can’t wait to meet Sophie’s baby sister!!
P.S. Sorry for accidentally whacking you in the head with my tea pot, Baby Henry!!

We don’t get to go to Target very often so it was like a special outing. While Mommy stopped for coffee, Janie scored a bag of dried fruit. Yum!

As you know, one of our favorite things to do is go to the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. We left the house pretty early and Janie rode her scooter part of the way there. She got a head start with Daddy and seemed to have an easier time going straight.

At the Ferry Plaza, she ran around while Mommy shopped for fruit and veggies.

We also had brunch outside at MarketBar. Janie also got a special treat: BACON!

She waited very patiently in line with Mommy at the ice cream shop.

So, she also got a little bit of Mommy’s ice cream and the cone all for herself.

I think this kid loves ice cream as much as her Mommy.

I love the ice cream mustache.

She burned off the sugar with more scooting and we made it halfway before we decided to catch the train home.

I think she enjoys riding the train just as much as riding her scooter.

This kid eats two dinners per night. She has an early dinner around 6 by herself and then she insists on having a bit of what Mommy and Daddy are eating later in the evening around 7:30.

Here she is enjoying some of Mommy’s noodles tonight.

This evening for dinner, we went to Burlingame to have dinner with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason. She was so happy to see them and had fun hanging out with them during dinner.

This girl is drinking from a big cup now with less spilling. We just have to make sure there isn’t too much in the cup to start.

I love this picture. She’s always so happy to be with Auntie Jia.

After dinner, we stopped for ice cream. She tried some of Daddy’s cherry ice cream.

She also got her very own kid’s size rainbow sherbet. She shared with Mommy and was so happy to be able to hold the cup and spoon herself at the end.
