Thai dinner

IMG_7134

We met up with Daddy for dinner tonight.  Janie sat at the bar while we waited for a table.

The waitress gave her a cup with a straw, which is always entertaining for her.

Then she grubbed on her favorite, Thom Kha, and some of Mommy’s noodles.

She was crazy for mushrooms today.

afterschool fun

IMG_7094

After school, Janie went to Lake Temescal to meet up with Mommy’s friends for a run.

IMG_7097

Weeee!

IMG_7099

After the run, she blowed bubbles while everyone did some exercises.

IMG_7100

Then she tagged along for some yummy Indian food.

IMG_7105

IMG_7113

The next stop was Ici for ice cream and Janie shared her stroller with pal Henry.

IMG_7114

She got her very own cone with coconut passionfruit sorbet.  Yum!

back to the grind

IMG_7091

After a long weekend with Mommy and Daddy, Janie went back to school today.  She was super sad but it wasn’t as bad as last week.  She cried but then sat in the stroller at the table with GG and calmed down as Mommy left.  You can kind of see her through the window screen here.  Tia Maria said that she was eating and playing very shortly after I left.

IMG_7092

When Mommy came to pick her up, Janie was sitting at the snack table while listening to the kids practice their frutas (fruits) in Spanish.

Last morning in Tahoe

IMG_7068

We had one last breakfast in Tahoe this morning.

IMG_7071

I was also noticing how independent Janie has been this weekend.  She wasn’t nearly as needy for Mommy as she usually is at home.  There were so many times over the past 2 days where I glance over and she is happily playing, reading her books, singing, and talking to her stuffed animals.

IMG_7076

Here she is chilling out on the couch with her snack and milk while waiting for Ariel to finish her homework.

IMG_7078

When Ariel was done, they played with Janie’s jewelry and we had another lesson in sharing.

IMG_7079

By the end, they were both wearing jewelry and Janie was able to share a bunch of pieces with Ariel.

IMG_7080

IMG_7081

“Pretty!!”

IMG_7082IMG_7083

We also took a short “hike” to find Auntie Sylvia who was playing tennis nearby.

IMG_7084

We quickly realized that we weren’t ready to do any kind of hiking with Janie yet.

Camp Richardson

IMG_6843

On our way to the lake, we stopped at Raley’s for some supplies/food.  Janie stayed in the minivan and ended up falling asleep on the ride over to Camp Richardson Beach.

IMG_6844

She got just enough sleep in to last the rest of the afternoon.

IMG_6856

At the beach, we found a shady spot ad Janie spent the first half hour making “soup” and her version of sand castles.

IMG_6865

IMG_6866

She wasn’t scared of the water but it took some time for her to get her feet wet.

IMG_6885

However, once she got comfortable, she was obsessed.  At one point, she had wandered off on her own when she thought it was time to get some more water for her bucket.

IMG_6896

She ate lunch under the trees while Daddy barbequed.  It was just enough for her to regain her energy for more time in the water.

IMG_6918

By the end of the afternoon, she was walking into the water on her own without shoes on and almost willing to go down to the rocks..  She loved stomping, kicking, and throwing the water and sand.

IMG_6920When it was time to go, I had to drag her out the water in order to pack up quick enough to beat the incoming storm that we could see in the near distance.  I’d say that was a really fun day at the beach for Little Janie.

after the beach

IMG_6929

When we got home, Janie took a shower with Mommy and then put on her new Puma dress that Daddy bought for her at the outlet.

IMG_6924

Here she is watching the rain come down.  Big G is waving to the rain.  Haha.

IMG_6935

Then before dinnner, Janie and Ariel played together.

IMG_6936

IMG_6940

They had a little tea party with their friends.

IMG_6941

IMG_6926

For dinner, Janie had chicken and broccoli first while Daddy and Uncle James went out to pick up dinner.

IMG_6943

Then she joined us for second dinner – pizza and pasta!

Thunder in Tahoe!!

IMG_6788

When we arrived at the resort, it started out sunny but then the clouds were getting gray and dark.  As we walked up the hill to the lobby, we saw lightning and then heard a big boom.  That was Janie’s first experience with thunder and once we explained it to her, she wasn’t scared anymore.  It just startled her every once in a while as it does with anyone who doesn’t see the lightning first.  It took a little while for us to get our keys so we hung out in the lobby area with Uncle James and Ariel.

IMG_6794

At the condo, Ariel shared her magnetic blocks.  How fun!

IMG_6796

This is Janie’s bed for the weekend.  It’s a yoga mat with a squishy comforter and two beach towels underneath a bedsheet.  Looks super comfy!  Ariel had one set-up in her room too so Janie was excited and tried it out before dinner.

IMG_6799

I think Janie was inspired by all the scenery because she drew this picture and called it “Trees and Rain”.

IMG_6800

For dinner, Daddy made beef noodle soup and she had quite a feast!

IMG_6808

Afterward, Janie and Ariel took a bath together and had a good time.

Drive to Tahoe

IMG_6752

We’re on our way to Tahoe today!  Yippee!  This girl did a pretty good job keeping herself entertained.

IMG_6757

IMG_6761

We stopped at the Vacaville outlet to do a little shopping and Janie had a little lunch.

IMG_6763

IMG_6765

Here she is in a luggage store helping out the store clerk with her inventory.

IMG_6766

IMG_6779

Before heading to the resort, we went to the grocery store to pick up food for the weekend.

IMG_6782

They had a “family-friendly check-out aisle” where she got a strip of stickers.

Second Day

IMG_6737

Janie had her second day at Day Care today and drop-off was not as easy as Wednesday.  She was happy and singing on the ride there but as soon as we parked, she started to panic and kept saying “Mama, hug! Mama, hug!”  When we got to the door, she began to say, “no no no!”  Then when the teacher came around, she started to cry and said “I want stroller! I want red stroller!”  They had a black stroller for her and we buckled her in and teacher wheeled her into the playroom while Mommy left.  By the time I left, I didn’t hear any crying and it sounded like she had a pretty good day after she was done crying.  She even slept on the floor mat like all the other kids and napped during the scheduled 1-3pm time!  As an added bonus, she pooped in the toilet too!

IMG_6739

When I picked her up, she was actually sitting on a potty and was so excited to see me that she stood up with her pants down and the teacher had to scurry to put her diaper back on.  Sorry, no photos of that moment.

IMG_6741

She also went home with some cherry tomatoes and grapes in a cup.

IMG_6743

We got home early enough that afternoon to take a walk to City Target and then met up with Daddy for dinner.
