Monday with Mommy

IMG_9098

After her morning doctor’s appointment, Janie got to spend the day with Mommy.  We dropped the car off at home and then rode the train to Union Square.  For lunch, she asked for “bacon and noodles and soup” so we went to Bangkok Noodles.  She was pretty happy with 2 out of 3 things in one bowl.

It’s a crowded little hole-in-the-wall restaurant so we were seated at a 2-top sitting across from each other.  Janie did just a good job sitting in the grown–up chair without squirming too much and she didn’t spill any of her soup or water today.  Mommy and Janie shared a big bowl of boat noodle soup.  Yum.  So happy.

After lunch, we walked around to take care of some errands and when it struck 12:00, she was out for the count.

30-month visit

IMG_9086

Janie went to see the doctor today for her 30-month check-up.  What’s interesting is that she cried when it came time to weigh and measure her. She didn’t even let me take her shirt off.

IMG_9089

She made such a fuss that I didn’t have time to write down her stats.  I’m gonna have to call them tomorrow to get the numbers but I think this is what the nurse said:

Weight: 30 lbs, 4 oz.
Height: 35.25 inches

Luckily the crying didn’t last long and the books and toys in the exam room helped.  When the doctor came in, she was really quiet and a little worried.  To break the ice, she received a lollipop just like last time.  Everything checked out well but she refused to talk so the doctor wrote in her notes “reportedly talks”.  Haha.

IMG_9095

The last part was to get her flu shot and she didn’t even flinch this time.  She was more excited about the bandaid on her leg and the lollipop she had to finish.

long afternoon

IMG_9067

After our trip to the zoo, we had a late lunch at Blue Line Pizza where they have Magna Doodles for the kids.  Cool!

IMG_9075

Then we went next door to Trader Joe’s where Janie got to walk around a bit and explore.

IMG_9076

She picked out these flowers and helped put them in the shopping cart.

IMG_9077

Janie really liked the sweet potato they were serving at the tasting table.  She kept asking for more so we each asked for one at different times so she had 3 helpings.  I guess she likes sweet potato again.

IMG_9078

In the car, she fell asleep since we were WAY overdue for her nap.

dinner outing

IMG_8992

Auntie and Uncle came over for dinner tonight.  Janie was so excited to take the bus to the restaurant!  Daddy did some squats while we waited at the bus stop.

IMG_8994

IMG_8995

On the bus, she took a selfie and also had a FaceTime call with Ankong and Ama.

IMG_8996

She did a good job holding hands when we got off the bus.

Janie snacked on an orange while we waited for the food and then slurped up most of Mommy’s lobster bisque.

IMG_9026

It was a nice evening for eating outside with the family.

IMG_9029

On our way home, we rode the train.  Janie had a good time riding on Uncle Jason’s shoulders in the train station.

Once back at the house, Janie played a little more with Auntie Jia before they went home.

Breakfast with Henry

IMG_8936

This morning we met up with “Auntie Pizza” (Auntie Teresa) and “Baby Hungry” (Baby Henry) for breakfast.  Initially, Janie didn’t want to share her banana but then, on her own, broke it in half and gave Henry a piece.  Aw….

IMG_8938

We had breakfast at the Ferry Plaza and the two kids shared a plate of avocado together.  Actually, Janie finished off the plate after Henry was done with his share.

IMG_8947

IMG_8948

Afterward, we hung out by the water and Janie was so sweet to him.

IMG_8967

It made Mommy a little nervous but she did great.

IMG_8966

We also stopped at the playground across the street and Janie loved the tall slide.

IMG_8958

She also showed Baby Henry how to go down the shorter slide.

IMG_8955The best part of this playground visit, Janie figured out how to pump a swing!  She sat down on the big-kid swing and watched the older girl swinging next to her and started imitating her.

I was so proud and a little relieved that I didn’t have to teach her. 😉

IMG_8970

The next stop was the Disney Store where Janie introduced Henry to her pal Olaf.  He clapped the whole time.

IMG_8972

We then went to Old Navy where Henry got two pairs of shoes and Janie got a cool Superman shirt and socks.

IMG_8974

What a fun morning!

evening fun

IMG_8898

This evening, Janie played with her new friends Chip and Dale.

IMG_8899

At dinner, she used a big kid cup for her water.  No spilling!

IMG_8900

She also played with a wooden spoon.  What an interesting choice of a toy tonight, KK.

Dinner and Dessert

IMG_8812

This evening, we went down to Burlingame to have dinner with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason.  We had Mediterranean food and Janie loved the hummus.

IMG_8817

After dinner, we went across the street to have ICE CREAM!

IMG_8818

She got to ride on Uncle’s shoulders for a better view of the flavors.

IMG_8819

She got some of Daddy’s butter pecan in her very own cone.  What fun!

Friday shopping

IMG_8758

President Obama was in SF today so the commute back into the city tonight was horrible.  So, Janie and Mommy stayed in the East Bay for a little shopping while the traffic died down a bit.  We spent most of the time at IKEA where Janie had a fun time in the Children’s Area.

IMG_8759

IMG_8762

She also took the liberty of trying out all of the beds.

IMG_8763

She really liked the canopy bed. Too bad we don’t have room for such a thing.

IMG_8761

We were planning to purchase this $20 set of table and 2 chairs.  Janie thought it would be prudent to try it out first.

IMG_8765

For a snack/dinner, we shared Swedish meatballs, mashed potato, and lingonberry sauce.  Janie loves meatballs so it was perfect.

IMG_8766

She also appreciated the kid-level rail on the stairs.

IMG_8768

Before heading home, we also stopped at Target.  Luckily she was still in the mood for more shopping and enjoyed riding in the shopping cart.
