This evening, it was getting late so Daddy went to McDonald’s to pick up dinner. Janie got her very first hamburger and gave it a try. She’s usually not a fan of sandwiches so I wasn’t sure what she would think. She ended up eating about half with some encouragement and was most enthusiastic about the pickle she found inside.
Janie went to another birthday party today. This time it was in Walnut Creek at Heather Farm Park, which has a really cool playground. We got there a bit early to hang out with Vivian who was getting her picture taken for Christmas cards.
They played next to each other on the swings and Vivian followed Janie up the stairs and down the slides.
During the family photo shoot, Janie photobombed a photo by running into the background and waving. She was so proud. This is one of the outtakes.
Once again, there was pizza! Boy, this kid got to eat well this weekend!
Instead of cupcakes, Sophie had a big mountain of donuts!! So, Janie got her first taste of chocolate donut with sprinkles. Being the savory kid that she is, she ended up taking two nibbles and then calling it a day.
They had a pinata and Janie had no idea what she was supposed to do. She just tapped the pinata three times and was done. After all the kids got their turns, everyone pulled the strings on the bottom, which made all the candy come out.
Janie scored a lollipop and was so happy.

The rest of the party was spent playing on all the fun structures. She really liked climbing on all the ladders and steps.

She also discovered the big grassy mounds that you can slide down with cardboard sleds. She caught on quickly and had fun with her 2nd cousins Theo and Sadie.

Today we rode the train to Burlingame for Rowan and Uncle Bang’s birthdays.
Once we arrived, we found them all at the park and Janie finally figured out how to sustain a good bounce in a bounce house.
Once that happened, she was hooked!
They had pizza at the party and Janie ate all the olives and onions off the pizza.
The playground was pretty cool too and she played with Reese and Jack.
Before heading home, Janie licked all the frosting off the cupcake and didn’t eat any cake.
On our way home, Janie played the straw violin for Mama to hear.
This morning, Janie came along to Mommy’s Vitamin D test at the doctor’s office before heading to school. She was very good about sitting in the waiting room with her peanut butter sandwich.
This evening, Janie lounged in a grown-up chair with her pizza. Silly girl!
It’s Friday night, so we went out for a walk in Union Square. Stockton Street was converted to a Winter Walkway this week and Janie got to run around in the middle of the AstroTurf “street”.
For dinner, we stopped for Thai boat noodles. As Janie waited for her food, she thought painting with water and a straw would be fun.
She loved her soup, noodles, and bean sprouts!
At the Apple Store, Daddy helped her test out one of their iPads. This was a cool painting app.
Next stop was the ice rink and tree in Union Square. It started to rain so we didn’t spend much time there. Instead, we went over to Macy’s to see it from above. Janie asked to go ice skating but we told her she’d have to grow just a little more first.
So, she used the Macy’s furniture department as her ice rink. She ran around kicking and spinning as if she was on ice. It’s too bad I forgot to take a video.
She had so much fun riding all the escalators, exploring the different areas, and enjoying all that there was to see. Who knew a department store could be so much fun?!
We had dinner at Public House tonight and Janie had fun playing dress-up with the napkin.
She also ate about 75% of Mommy’s mussels and clams on top of the cauliflower that we also ordered for her. This girl can really eat her fair share nowadays.
On Tuesday night, Janie played on her AquaDoodle mat and drew a sun and a moon.
After dinner, we picked up Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason from the airport and went to In N Out for a late second dinner. Janie had some of Auntie’s french fries before falling asleep in the car.
This evening, all Janie wanted for dinner was a sandwich. When I asked what kind of sandwich, she said “bread and peanut butter and strawberry sauce”. Funny kid. When it was time to make it, she said “no sauce, just peanut butter”. So that’s what she got. This kids has never been a fan of sandwiches but tonight she ate a half sandwich (one slice of bread folded in half) all on her own.
Janie asked for fruit this evening and really wanted to eat standing at the counter. So she pulled up a step stool and chowed down. She looked so cute standing there with the counter only at her chin.
