This evening, we went out to dinner and Janie stole Mommy’s lemon for her own cup.

She had so much to tell Mommy about her day.

We actually ordered dessert and Janie couldn’t get enough of the chocolate mousse cake.

This was one happy happy kid.
Watch us grow!

It’s a holiday so Janie stayed home with Dada while Mama went to work. The day started with breakfast #1.
Mommy asked Daddy to fix her hair and this is what we got. Not bad.

Then there was second breakfast and Daddy got ousted out of his chair.

Next up for the day was a little laundry. The basket was more fun than the task itself.

Next was a stop for coffee for Dada and blueberries for Janie.

They also stopped at Safeway for groceries and came home with a bunch of stuff.

Around lunchtime, Janie finished all the raspberries in the fridge.

In the evening, she gave Daddy a check up and found a crab and hamster in his ear.

Janie helped make pancakes this morning.

She was so excited to do the mixing!

When they were all done, she gobbled up about 7 silver dollar pancakes all on her own.

Auntie Jia returned from China on Tuesday so we met up for dinner tonight and Janie was so happy to see her.

She also showed off her tower building skills while we waited for the food.

Janie ate very well this evening and gobbled up a lot of rice, soup, carrots, and fish.

We took Janie to The Little Farm at Tilden Park today and she was so excited to “go to the farm”. When we arrived, the first animals she saw were the cows in the barn. She (and we) were surprised to see how big these animals are. We brought celery to feed the animals and they were all over it.

The cows have these really massive tongues that extend as far as my forearm and it’s kinda scary when they come up to take the celery from your hand. Janie was too scared to hand it to them herself so we ended up doing most of the feeding.

This was the one and only time that she actually fed the cow.

The next animal was a huge pig. We didn’t bring any lettuce so we just admired her from afar.

Janie was so happy to see the chickens and ducks. This is the outside of the coop.

Inside the coop, she got an even closer look.

There were sheep up on the hill but none of them seemed that interested in snacking at the moment. It’s ok though because Janie said “I’m scared of the sheep”.

Janie tried again but then dropped the celery when the cow’s tongue was a little too scary for her. You can hear her say “big tongue” at the beginning of the video clip.

There was lots of space to run and explore at this park and Janie took full advantage.

For lunch, we found a place to sit and have a picnic.

We were lucky that the sun was out and it wasn’t too cold.

Janie enjoyed her own stash of celery plus tuna salad, crackers, and lots of pickles.

Before heading home, we went back to the cows to give them the rest of our celery.

Janie was still too scared but was willing to get a little closer this time.

What a fun day at the farm!! Next time we’ll have to bring more celery and add lettuce too!

Before dinner, we stopped at a little cafe for some cheese and crackers. Janie loved snacking on everything and ate all the grapes off the platter.

She was happy to find the hole in the table and played a game of peek-a-boo with GG.

It really cracked her up.

Then she decided that hiding under a napkin was equally funny. Silly girl.

This evening, we took the train to Union Square to have dinner and to go to the Apple Store. Janie loved her “bandaid noodles”, beef, bean sprouts, and soup.

“SLUUUURP!”

At the Apple Store, she tried a drawing app on the iPad. Pretty cool stuff.

Before nap time, we stopped at Daddy’s office and then walked to lunch with him.

Janie dined on broccoli, vermicelli noodles, and pork with lots of fish sauce. She didn’t eat much this morning and made up for it at lunch.

When we got home, she spent about 4 hours in bed (1.5 hours awake) and felt much better afterward. I think she’ll be ready to go back to school tomorrow.

We got a box of bendable straws from the store this week and it’s been so much more fun drinking from a cup at home. It’s also a lot easier to wash a regular cup vs. the Zoli.

Janie has been doing a pretty good job not spilling too.

After a late nap, Janie had snack with Dada at her table. They clinked glasses and shared a bowl of fishie pretzels together.
