Watch us grow!
We celebrated Auntie Jia’s birthday this evening and Janie was so excited to sing “Happy Birthday” to her. She also did a good job keeping her hands behind her back to stay away from the fire.
She also helped blow out the candles.
Janie’s slice of apple cake was gobbled up so quickly!

This morning we went to the Farmer’s Market and Janie enjoyed strolling behind Dada with her hands in her pockets.
While Dada waited for coffee, she enjoyed some milk in the sunshine.
We also went across the street to the playground where she went on the big slide and shared the teeter-totter with a little boy. They were actually able to make it go up and down on their own!
Janie had another day with Daddy today. She slept in until 9:30 and then she was up and ready to go out for the day. Her hair needed a little work so Daddy tried again.
Ta Da!! Two clips and a rubberband did the trick!
They first went to the mall for lunch at Chipotle. During lunch, she said “Dragons don’t like spicy salsa. I’m a dragon and you’re a rabbit. I don’t like spicy salsa.” Haha. She’s been reading her newest book “Dragons Love Tacos” lately and yesterday Daddy told her she was a dragon and he was a rabbit (Chinese zodiac signs). Funny girl.
After lunch, they hopped on the train and rode all the way to the end to get to the zoo. By the time she arrived, she was asleep in the stroller.
So, Daddy sat at the zoo playground to do some work while she slept.
Once she woke up, she got to see giraffes, lions, zebras, a hippo, and tigers. What a fun day with Daddy!!
Mommy had to go to class today so Janie stayed home with Daddy. They walked all the way down to Yerba Buena Park holding Daddy’s hand. What a big girl!
She got to ride the carousel 4 times today and she still likes sitting in “the boat”.
For lunch, they had fried chicken and then she took a nap during Daddy’s work call.
In the afternoon, she played with playdough but then had a little accident. Oops. During her bubble bath, she said to Daddy, “So many bubbles. It’s fantastic!”
When I got home, Daddy looked exhausted and Janie was watching Sesame Street.
After dinner, we went to Safeway on foot and did a decent job staying close to us. She had such a fun-filled, active day that she went to bed on her own without a single fuss. It was a good day.
This evening, we went to PetCo to drop off some of our baby fish. We gave them back to the store and said goodbye to 5 of them today. We still have 4 more at home.
The lizard had been sold so Janie visited the turtles. She said this one was named “Crush” and found “Squirt” in the corner.
She also thought the bird was pretty funny and it kept following her along the window.
Her favorite part was watching the dog training class that was going on that evening.
Afterward we went out for dinner and Janie had some of Mommy’s margherita pizza.
It was a late evening but it’s ok because there’s no school tomorrow!!!
At Safeway this afternoon, Janie really wanted a bell pepper and picked out a red one. Mommy cut it up when we got home and she ate at least half of the bell pepper all on her own.
Janie really wanted mashed potato for dinner tonight. As the waiter was telling us the specials, she kept asking the waiter “do you have mashed potato?”
She was so happy to have her “side dish” along with the carrots and hummus that we brought from home. And of course, she had lots of Mommy and Daddy’s steak too.
We went to the aquarium again today and Janie really enjoyed watching the scuba divers feed the fish and clean the glass.
Look at how serious she was during the presentation.
She was also brave enough to touch the starfish twice today.

She also went through this tunnel on her own for the first time. I don’t know why she’s always been so scared of it until now.

Janie met a banana slug today and said “so gross”.
For lunch she had carrots and a full container of hummus.
On our way back to the car, we walked through the Music Concourse where she found the park benches entertaining. She insisted on trying each one out for the perfect napping spot.
At one point, she said “I need a pillow!”
We all went to R&G Lounge tonight for dinner.
Janie grubbed on lots of noodles and broccoli while the grown-ups ate salt and pepper crab.
She also insisted on holding both Auntie and Uncle’s hands on the way back to the car.
Back at home, she spent some time with Ankong before they had to head home.
There were lots of hugs and kisses for everyone.
Janie also got a red envelope from Ankong for Chinese New Year. Lucky girl!
We went out for a nice Italian dinner and as we waited for the food, Janie did a letter search and circled all the As and Ps.
Mommy ordered linguine alla vongole to share with Janie.
Since Mommy is not supposed to eat clams right now, Janie gladly ate all 15 of them on her own.
Look at the plate of empty clam shells! This girl doesn’t like sandwiches but will clean off a plate of clams. Wow.
