Watch us grow!

Janie was really into making tortillas and then cutting out shapes.

Last night Daddy promised that Janie would be able to help make eggs in the morning. So, this morning, she woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was “I need to crack the eggs”. So we waited for Daddy to wake up and she got to crack and scramble the eggs for her breakfast.

Yum Yum!!

In the afternoon, Janie fell asleep with a fish pretzel on her chest while we were walking to Target. She slept through our entire shopping trip downtown.

Once we got home, she woke up and headed out to Petco. Next door was a frozen yogurt store where Janie and Mommy shared a little bit of tart frozen yogurt with strawberries.

At Petco, Janie was so excited to see a starfish in one of the tanks.

While we were in line to pay for some fish and plants, Janie found these cool stuffed fruit and vegetable toys.

For dinner, we had short ribs served with green beans, Janie helped by squeezing lemon juice over them.

Before bed, Janie brushed her teeth and tried flossing on her own. She flosses her front teeth really well but needs help with the molars. Fortunately, she thinks it’s fun.

We had big plans to go to Golden Gate Park to see a fish exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers. Before riding the train, we stopped at the mall for lunch and Janie fell asleep mid-chew. This kid is ridiculous. What was nice was that she slept through the whole train ride and woke up in time for the exhibit.

Too bad it was too humid and hot inside for us to stay longer. We did, however, enjoy this tank and Janie pointed out all the tiny snails.

She kept saying “I want to pick the flowers” while we were inside. In fear of her actually doing so and getting busted, we quickly went outside and I let her pick all the weedy white flowers that she wanted.

She was in flower heaven out there and Mama got to cool off.

It was also a very warm day in the city today so we went to the aquarium to cool off further.

Janie just loves looking at the fish guides and looking for them in the tanks. It’s like her Nemo Seek-and-Find book but in real life!

She was also brave enough touch the starfish AND the sea urchin today. She didn’t need any coaxing or convincing. Instead, she just walked up to the touch pool and went for it like a big girl.

Outside of the Academy, the ice cream truck was parked around the corner so we stood in line for some ice cream and popsicles. Janie was so patient and happily sat on the grass in the shade with her Nemo book.

She was even happier when the ice cream arrived.

Later that evening, we were all so exhausted from the hot, busy day and just sat around watching TV. Janie used Dada as a lounge chair as she snacked on cheese.

This kid is pretty serious about her Chicken Rice and soup – one of her favorite meals of all time.

This evening, we went to Costco to replenish our house after being away all week. Janie helped strap GG into the shopping cart with her.

She also scored a bag of bell peppers. This kid was so excited and wanted to eat them right away.

Next stop was the pet store. She brought her slinky along and used it as a magnifying glass and camera.

She went around looking at all the animals this way.

She got a kick out of this bird.

He kept following her around and she would wave to him.

Here she is “taking a picture” of Daddy in the store.

Once we got home, she immediately requested yellow bell peppers.

She also thought the car seat was great for lounging and enjoying her snack.

Once we all checked out, the family gathered one last time at the bar. Janie got some Dole whip and LOVED it…of course.

The view from the bar was so nice.

We tried to get a family photo taken but Janie is in a phase where she doesn’t always want to take a photo. So, this was the best we could get.

The cousins also gave each other hugs before heading to the airport. They’re so funny together.

The flight home was actually only 3.5 hours and Janie watched videos and grubbed on broccoli and carrots. We got home pretty late and she was pretty tired by then but we all got home safe and sound.

This morning, we had a fancy brunch at the Moana Surfrider. Janie helped Yai with her creamer.

With such a great selection of food, Janie ate rather well. It’s a good thing because we had another fun-filled day ahead.

After brunch, Mommy got a few pictures of Janie at the Mahalo sign.

It was a little hard getting her to smile for the camera when she was so engrossed in her Nemo book.

Here’s Alice joining in on the photoshoot.

When it got too cold for the pool, we headed back to the hotel room for a bath and some quiet time on the lanai.

Daddy also took Janie down to get ice cream and she LOVED rocky road. You can see it all over her face.

Afterward, she camped out in the closet. It’s funny that she did this because Mommy used to have a clubhouse in her closet as a kid.

Later in the evening, the Honolulu Festival had their grand parade out in front of the hotel.

She even got to see a giant dragon fly above her. She kept saying “dragons love tacos!”

Janie had a very exciting day and fell asleep after dinner. She missed and slept through all the gorgeous fireworks on the water side of our hotel.

We were all up early this morning and met up at the infinity pool.

Then we all walked down to Eggs ‘n Things for a big pancake and waffle breakfast.

There’s always a wait but the kids stayed entertained with each other.

This is Janie trying to make the “shaka” sign with Uncle Johnny.

We brought crayons and Alice tried to join in.

Auntie Joy also brought lots of stickers, which kept them occupied for a good part of the wait too.

Once we were seated, the server had more crayons and a coloring page. Janie and Daddy went to work on their individual coloring pages.

Once the food came, Janie wanted to try all the different syrups and rolled up her pancake and called it a “pancake tortilla”.

She also got over her fear of pineapples. She had been avoiding pineapple ever since she ate an entire container of them, which made her tongue sting. After today, she began saying “pineapples don’t hurt my tongue anymore”.

Mommy and Daddy had a date night so Janie had dinner with Yai, Ta, Uncle Johnny, Auntie Joy, and Alice.

They went out for Japanese food.

On the way back to the hotel, they stopped at Yogurtland and Janie scored a tiny cup of frozen yogurt for herself.

They also stopped to listen to some live music at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

Back at the hotel, Janie and Alice took a bath together and then had their milk side-by-side before bed.

They also watched Frozen together for a while. Janie fell asleep on Yai and Ta’s bed and then transferred very easily to the stroller when Mommy and Daddy came back. Thanks for a fun night, family!!
