Shower for the Cousins

IMG_4924

This morning, we had a baby shower for Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason.  It was a pizza party in Burlingame.  We got there a little early so we went across the street to the toy store for a bit.

Janie played with trains and then the dollhouse.

At the party, Janie was so excited to see Auntie Jia and there were lots of little kids there too.

She liked the caprese salad and meatballs and had some pizza too.

The best part was some of Daddy’s chocolate cupcake.

She also insisted that GG and Big GG came along to the party today so they sat in their own highchair.

When we were all done eating, everyone got to run around and Janie was stuck to Auntie Jia like glue.  DSC_6310

In fact, she photobombed quite a few of the pictures with her today.

What a fun party!  She can’t wait to meet her two little cousins!!

Mommy’s turn

IMG_4849

After Janie’s check-up, it was Mommy’s turn to see the doctor.  We packed plenty of snacks for the visit and she did a great job staying quiet and behaved during the appointment.

IMG_4850

After that was all done, we met up with Dada and had lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant nearby.

IMG_4851

She was playing with one of the menus and hiding GG inside the “tent”.

IMG_4853

Despite the late hour (way past her nap time), she had a pretty hearty lunch of pork, noodles, and Daddy’s curry soup.

IMG_4855

She kept asking for more once she got to the bottom of the bowl

IMG_4856

On the walk home, she fell asleep in the stroller.

IMG_4859

The rest of the afternoon/evening was spent playing with toys and some FaceTime with family.

Birthday Dinner

IMG_4744

For Janie’s birthday dinner, we went out for Thai food.

IMG_4747

We ordered Tom Kha, one of her favorite things to eat.

IMG_4749

She also had some of Mommy’s Pad Thai.  She ate very well this evening.

IMG_4755

IMG_4759

On the way home, we stopped at the Disney Store just 10 minutes before they closed.  We had just enough time for her to give Squirt and Nemo some hugs.

IMG_4763

Our last stop was Walgreens because Dada needed more super glue.  Check out these cool shades she picked out.

Aquarium

IMG_4702

We arrived at the California Academy of Sciences by 9:45 am (15 mins after it opened) and it was super empty.  It was nice to have so much room to roam and Janie could see all the fish without squishing in between people. The first few minutes were in the stroller so she could finish her oatmeal.  We usually have to park the stroller off the side but today we had plenty of room for her to ride in it.

IMG_4703

The first thing she wanted to see were the harlequin shrimp in the “small small tank” (in her words).

IMG_9834

She also asked me to take a picture of them.

IMG_4708

One of her favorite things to see are the scuba divers cleaning the tank.  She can’t help waving to them.

IMG_4715

For once, the tunnel was unoccupied so she enjoyed running in and out of the tunnel.

IMG_9835

We’ve never seen this room so empty before.  She got the whole tank to herself for a bit.

IMG_4709

Our little fish explorer used the card to identify a few of the fish.

IMG_4712

“There’s Dory!”

IMG_9839

She was fascinated with the upside-down jellyfish today.

IMG_4716

We also saw the rays and sharks and caught the tail end of the penguin feeding.IMG_4719

IMG_4721

This kid had a great time and we finished seeing everything by 10:45.

IMG_4723

Hooray!!

birthday morning

IMG_4699

This morning, Janie woke up in a great mood and remembered that it was her birthday today.  It might have been because the first thing she saw was her Nemo balloon.

IMG_4701

When I asked what she wanted to do today, she said she wanted to go to the aquarium.  Actually, she had been asking to go since Friday.  So, that’s where we would go today.  Unfortunately, we had to made a stop at the smog check place first.  Lucky for us it only took 10 minutes and gave us just enough time for Janie to have a hearty oatmeal breakfast in the waiting room.

Birthday Eve Dinner

IMG_4680

For Janie’s Birthday Even dinner, we went out to a nice dinner this evening with Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason.  I think Daddy picked this Italian place because they have linguine with clams – one of Janie’s favorite things to eat.  She was so excited when Mommy’s dish came and gobbled up all of the clams with the exception of the 3 that Mommy snuck when she wasn’t looking.  She really kept an eye on Mommy and made sure that she didn’t eat any while she was working on the noodles.

IMG_4685

IMG_4686

By the end of the meal, she was a big greasy mess and her tummy was full of tasty clams.

3rd Birthday Party

IMG_4667

We celebrated Janie’s 3rd birthday today at the Children’s Creativity Museum.  It had a Nemo theme and Janie was so happy to see her favorite characters on the cupcakes and balloons.

IMG_4597

Before the food arrived, all the kids (and grown-ups) spent time in the museum playing with foam dough.

IMG_4610

DSC_6222

There was also a craft table where the kids made rockets.

DSC_6226

For lunch, we had Hawaiian food, veggies, and fruit.  The Spam musubi disappeared in a flash.

DSC00041

After lunch, everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Janie and she had a funny reaction to what happened after she blew out the candles.

Luckily Auntie Ishya caught the whole thing on video for us.

DSC_6231

Janie chose a chocolate cupcake with a Nemo ring on top and had lots of frosting and cake on her face for the rest of the party.

IMG_1524

IMG_4620

In fact, all the kids LOVED the cake and each had blue frosting all over their faces.

IMG_4668

I wasn’t sure if she would able to share the balloons we bought for the party but she did and actually handed some of them out to her friends.

IMG_4629

Once the birthday party got packed up, we headed out to the carousel for a couple rides.

IMG_4643

To burn off all the sugar, the kids went back inside for some more fun.  They all played together on the slide and made a couple videos too.

The slide is green so that you can record yourself with a variety of backgrounds.

IMG_4665

I’m amazed that we somehow managed to get all the kids together for a group photo.

IMG_4650

IMG_4652

Thanks for coming to the party, Friends!  Hope you all had just as much fun as we did!!

late evening

IMG_4584

We had a late dinner this evening in Chinatown.  Janie had two kinds of noodles to eat.

IMG_4585

When we got home, she took a long bubble bath.  The bath was so long that Mommy supervised from the comfort of her bed instead of on a hard stool in the bathroom.

IMG_4586

After the bath, she stayed swaddled in her towel and just hung out with Daddy like when she was a little baby.  Looks so comfy.
