Ariel’s House

This evening, we went to Walnut Creek to visit our friends in their big new house and to meet their new baby girl. We hadn’t seen them since our last trip to Tahoe! In their new home, Ariel has her very own playroom stocked with a play kitchen and so many toys!

It took a few minute for Janie to warm-up to everyone but she was playing with Ariel in no time! They played with her toys and even built and placed in a fort together.

We stayed for dinner and Janie had lots of corn and fruit before dinner arrived.

She loved sitting at the kiddie patio table and practiced her knife skills.

She had dinner with Ariel while the grown-ups sat at the big table. It was cute to hear their little conversations as they ate and shared the peanut sauce.

After dinner, we all went in the back to feed the chickens. It’s hard to see but that’s Janie running down the hill after Ariel.

Initially Janie wasn’t so sure of the chickens but then learned that you can feed them seeds through the wire cage.

The girls ran up and down the hill gathering more seeds and played together so nicely. It was so warm outside that we stayed out until 8pm!

When it was time to go home, Janie didn’t want to leave. Hopefully, we can see them again soon and the girls can have more fun together.

Farmer’s Market

This morning, we went to the Farmer’s Market and tasted all the yummy stone fruits that are in season.

We also met up with Auntie Elaine. She hadn’t see Janie since she was 11 months old.

She bought Janie some POG sorbet at the ice cream store and they sat together outside in the sunshine.

Thank you for the ice cream, Auntie Elaine!!

Friday Evening

The best part of Friday evenings is that you can go out and stay out longer than usual. AND there are two more days before you have to go to school or work again! This evening, we took the train downtown to get Dada’s phone fixed at the Apple Store. Janie loves to run free inside the BART station.

After dropping off the phone, we went around the corner for Thai food.

When we returned to the store, they were still working on the phone so Janie got to play with the iPads upstairs for a bit. She’s getting pretty good at tracing numbers and letters.

Lilo & Stitch

This evening, Janie watched Lilo & Stitch while Mommy paid some bills.

She also had a solo dinner at her table during the last half of the movie. What a treat!

This evening, we went out to dinner and got to watch the Western Conference Finals.

Janie likes watching basketball and did lots of clapping and cheering with the rest of the crowd.

On the way home, Janie said she wanted mashed potato. Daddy was gonna be home late, so on our way home from Safeway, we stopped at Tender Greens to pick up dinner.

She got her mashed potato, sauteed mushrooms, steak, and kale salad. Yum!

Our drive back to SF took much longer than our drive down.

One of our stops was at the Tejon Ranch Outlets. Janie got to have a snack and run around a bit.

She got a new pair of shoes and so did Peanut! Janie also had fun looking through all grown-up shoes. There were so many colors!

After a nap, Janie spent a few hours watching Finding Nemo and Curious George. It’s a good thing we came prepared because there was a lot of traffic on Interstate 5.

She eventually fell asleep toward the end of the drive.

Our final stop before heading home was Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason’s house. We picked up pizza and Janie got a bath. She gave Auntie a big hug before leaving. The next time we see her, she might have two new babies for Janie to meet!!

This morning, Janie had breakfast and then snacked on cucumber and carrots.

She also played with Ta before Dada woke up.

Once Dada woke up, he took Janie across the street to practice riding her Strider bike.

It was fun to have such a big parking lot to practice riding.

Then we had to say our goodbyes. It was time to drive back to SF.

Janie had a great time in Southern California this weekend. Wish we could do this more often.

nap and dinner

Before dinner, Alice and Janie tried to take a nap but Uncle Johnny was the only one who got any Zs.

So on the way to dinner, she fell asleep and then slept through all of dinner.

However, she woke up in time for dessert at Cookies and Cream.

She was scared of the dry ice steam in the store but really enjoyed her share of Cinnamon Crunch ice cream.

When we got back to Yai’s house, Janie had some of the leftover jook that we took home from lunch. She must have made it look really good because Alice wanted some too.

When it got dark outside, we cracked open the light sticks and the girls had fun waving them around in the backyard and then running around in the dark hallway inside the house.

Church and Dim Sum

This morning, we went to church but got there a little early. So, Janie played outside with her tiny animals.

During service, she really liked the music and was dancing along.

Afterward, we had lunch with Ankong and Ama. Ankong had just enough time to hang out with us in between morning service and a meeting in the afternoon.

Ankong also gave her a very nice birthday present! Wow!

Janie had a fun time playing with Ankong in between bites of bao and jook.
