Watch us grow!

Janie was born with lots of hair and it’s growing so fast. It’s almost to her eyes and some of it has to be tucked behind her ears.

I wanted to get a photo of her two bottom teeth and this is the expression she gave me. Can you see them?

Here are some close-ups of our chubby cheekster.

Here’s a top view of Janie’s head. Her hair is getting pretty long.

I’m always fascinated by how much Janie can do now when I play with her on the floor.

Today we spent almost an hour this afternoon on the floor playing.

I watched her try to roll, manipulate toys, and play with her toes. She’s really become a mover!

Janie is 25 weeks old today and almost half-way to one year!!

This has been an exciting week. We discovered her first tooth on Friday morning (around midnight) when she woke up starving. It’s hard to see but I took a photo of it anyway.

It’s closer to the tongue and I drew in an arrow to help you see it. Still can’t see it? Here’s a close-up:

It’s a really thin white line that’s kind of translucent right now and just peeking out of the gum.
It’s about 1 am right now and Janie just fell back asleep 30 minutes ago. She’s been sleeping like a champ these past couple months but this week she’s seemed a bit fussier. Even Mirian reported that she’s been crying a little more during the day. Tonight she woke up starving at about midnight. She’s probably going through her 6-month growth spurt so I fed her and chalked it up to that. Then, it dawned on me to check her mouth. As soon as I placed my finger in her mouth, I felt a bottom tooth right in front! By golly, she’s teething too!!! Amazing! You can’t see them very well right now since they’re just surfacing so I didn’t take a photo but I sure will once they’re completely out! Wow, she’s actually handling this much better than I had expected. Looks like we’re just about ready for solids!!!

Janie has really pretty brown highlights in her hair that will probably disappear one day when she gets her hair cut. I think it’s lighter because it’s the hair that was on her head when she was born.

I thought I’d take some photos to help me preserve it. (By the way, this photo is supposed to be turned this way.)

Then I got this silly photo of the top half of her face. For some reason, I really like the way this came out. I might have to put this one up on the wall one day.

We knew that Janie would probably get the coveted “double eyelids” since both of her parents have them but we didn’t think it would happen so soon. The left one came in last month off and on and just tonight I noticed both at the same time while she was taking her bottle.

It’s the third hot day in a row and this little birdie dress was perfect! By the way, Janie’s been loving her thumb more lately.

Thank you for the dress, Ankong!!
