This morning, Janie went to her 5th week of soccer and did ok. She still has trouble staying with the group and this drill is still her favorite. She managed to run for real this time (instead of her silly penguin run) and kick the ball straight into the goal today.
4th Week of Soccer

Today’s soccer practice started out well. She warmed up with Daddy on the field before they started and was fired up!

She followed along with warm-ups with the group and did almost everything the coach asked.

It eventually started to take a decline when the game in the middle of practice got drawn out too long and she was getting bored. During the scrimmage, she picked up a little more interest and actually ran after the ball a few times.
Soccer Progress

Janie had her third week of soccer and she’s finally following along with the group. Here she is in the warm-up circle doing one of the drills.

She’s on the far right next to the tall coach.

Here’s another one of the techniques she learned.

They later lined up and took turns running the cones and making a goal. She did well on the first try and then had a big spill on the second.

You can see her looking a little confused but she finished.

They later had another scrimmage and she got the ball and scored a goal today! Pretty cool!

We were very proud of how well she participated today and got a tasty snack for the walk home.

We hope this is just the start of a full soccer season!
Another soccer day

It’s the second week of soccer and Janie’s dressed up in her soccer shirt, shorts, and socks! So cute!

Alas, the full uniform didn’t do much as for getting her to participate. Here she is standing still as the other followed along on warm-ups.

During the scrimmage, she was sitting out on the field.

Peanut snoozed through the whole session.

She also came by to get a drink of water a few too many times today.

I think her favorite part of soccer right now is getting the sticker at the end. *sigh* We’ll try again next week.
First Day of Soccer!!

This morning, we all got up early to take Janie to her first soccer session. She rode her scooter to the field.

When we checked in, she received her Cubs shirt and Mama wrote her name on the back. She also got her shorts and long socks but we didn’t put them on today.

Peanut stayed busy and had a fun time crawling and cruising around the perimeter of the field.

Here’s the warm-up circle. In her usual fashion, she stood and watched while the others followed along with the exercises. *sigh*

Then they played a game of Shark where they were fish kicking their ball around the cones and then getting their balls in the circle when the coach called out “SHARK ATTACK!”
She did it a couple times but as the game progressed, she was often found wandering around on her own with her ball. You can see her on the far left all by herself. *sigh* (again)

They had quite a few water breaks and she really built up a thirst each time.

The next drill was weaving through cones and then kicking the ball to the goal. This was probably her favorite part.

She did rather well for her first time!!

They were then split up into teams and wore different colored vests for a little scrimmage.

She played along for the first half and then needed a bit more coaxing to continue playing.

They finished the session with a game of parachute and then all received a sticker.

She had a fun time today and put in a good effort. Each 4-year-old had their own issues throughout the session and she fell right in the middle of all of them. One kid was really good and there were others who just sat through the whole session or would fall apart and cry.

I’d say it was a pretty successful first day of soccer and we are official “Soccer Dad” and “Soccer Mom” today.

I’m sure Peanut can’t wait to play too someday.
last day of soccer

Today was the last day of Soccer Shots at school. All the kids got this beach ball and a certificate from Coach Diaz. We will have to find a new place for Janie to play soccer from now on. Her new school doesn’t offer soccer during school hours.
Sunny Sunday

Today was warm and sunny so Janie practiced riding her Strider while Peanut perused the brunch menu.

We spent most of the day outside and Peanut even got to explore The Embarcadero on foot.

Janie wore her new sunglasses that came in her goody bag from Vivian’s birthday party.

We stopped at Spark Social SF and had a snack on their swinging lounge chairs.

On the way home, we found a patch of grass for Janie to practice her soccer moves.

In the evening, we took a walk around the ballpark and it ended up being a great way for the kids to end their fun-filled day. They both fell asleep by the time we were home and Mama and Dada had an early evening to themselves.

Evening Walk

This evening, we walked to the neighborhood food park and Janie brought her new purse (handed down from Mama). She carried her trusty camera and couldnt’ wait to take a picture of the dragon she saw on the truck last week.

We got a table by the soccer field next door and Janie watched the grown-ups playing the real way.

She also gave the foos ball table a try before we headed home.

On the walk home, Janie helped Dada search for Pokemon in the park. She helped catch them by tossing the pokeballs at them for him.
Go Team!

This is one of the picturees that was posted in today’s school newsletter. Love how Janie is the only girl in her group nowadays. This is “Coach” and the kids doing their end-of-the-session “SOCCER SHOTS!”
School Fun

Janie was in both newsletter photos today. She played with zoobs and blocks with the girls and had soccer practice this morning. Looks like she was the only girl among a big group of boys today. She also did not want to wear her soccer jersey. Instead, she chose the Elsa shirt that Ankong bought from Europe.
