Peanut is 32 weeks old today and loving life. Mimi said that he seemed extra happy and she made a point to write that he was “a good boy” in her log this week.  He’s also figured out how to sit up from a lying position. If he’s on his back, he’ll roll onto his tummy, push up to quadruped, and then sit up.  It’s crazy how these kids figure out how to do these things all on their own! He also got to play on grass this past week and had a good time feeling it on his hands and feet.

We’ve been letting him taste a bunch of new stuff lately too. This week, he tried salmon, broccoli, kale, cucumber, and chicken.

Look at that plank! He’s constantly moving.

Peanut is 31 weeks old today and looks so mature in this photo with Señor Fatty Duck Duck. For some reason, this outfit also looks extra slimming on him too. Heh heh.

IMG_8427

This week, he started a new cold and the poops are not very frequent but he’s been in a pretty good mood anyway.  We started him on prunes to help him along too. Sleeping has still been his biggest struggle and the longest stretch has only been 5.5 hours.  Bummer for Mama. He’s also loves making silly faces that involve sticking out his tongue or crinkling his nose.

Happy 31 weeks, Silly Boy!!

after work

IMG_8403

After work, we all met up at the neighborhood restaurant for dinner. We ordered the salumi board and while Janie gobbled up all the meat, Peanut got the liver mousse (the tan blob on the far right of the board). Yum.

IMG_8405

He ate the whole blob that was on the board. Baby needs his iron!

IMG_8410

We had a fun time together as a family and the restaurant is surprisingly friendly and accommodating to kids.

IMG_8413

Little Guy was whispering some interesting stuff to Dada this evening and Janie was amused.

Peanut is 7 months old today. Where did the first half of the year go?!

IMG_8345

Highlights from this month include:

  • Gross Motor: This guy is quite a mover. He rolls in both directions and also pivots around in side-sit to really cover some distance on the floor. He’s having more fun on his tummy lately and tries to combat crawl. If you put him in quadruped, he can hold his tummy off the floor for a second or two before his hips give way.
  • Fine Motor: Peanut has been grasping and holding lots of toys. He will inspect a toy by turning it around and then putting it in his mouth. He also sits for longer periods of time actually manipulating parts of a toy by flicking spinners, pressing buttons, and pushing switches back and forth. I love watching him play and learn on his own. Favorite toys include his activity cube, plastic links, clear animal cubes, and the stacking cups.
  • Eating: We’ve really expanded his diet this past month with a variety of flavors and textures. He’s had mango, tofu, rice porridge, kale, pear, cauliflower, romanesco, puffs, rice crackers, yogurt, and peanut butter. So far he has been allergy-free. Yay! Unfortunately, he doesn’t poop as often and it worries Mama. We’ll have to get prunes on board soon.

IMG_8278

  • Expressions: He loves to make this new squinty stink face and smiles a lot. He’s generally a happy kid when he’s not hungry or sleepy.
  • Social: Peanut loves his big sister and watches her every move. He doesn’t have stranger anxiety yet and usually enjoys meeting new people. Unfortunately, he also doesn’t like to be left alone for too long, which makes it hard to get stuff done at home sometimes.
  • Events: He’s outgrown the Rock n Play and sleeps primarily in the co-sleeper (flat on his back finally!) or stroller when he’s congested. We celebrated Chinese New Year with friends. Super Bowl came and went. We have also had a string of illnesses in the house and he’s been the healthiest of the 4.

IMG_8289

  • Sleep and Routine: This has been rough. He’s regressed in his sleep and will keep Mama up every 2 hours most nights. He also wakes up super early (4 or 5 am) and we usually have to leave the house because he makes too much noise. During the day, he’s great and has been sticking to a pretty regular pattern of naps and feeds. He loves hanging out with Mirian and gets to go to the library and playground pretty often.

Happy 7 Months, Big Boy!! We love you so much and can’t wait to see what new things you’ll learn this next month.

This is what our photoshoots look like lately. He’s such a mover that it takes lots of shots to get it right.

7-month visit

IMG_8256

Peanut had to go in for his flu shot booster today and did a good job tolerating the shot in his leg.

IMG_8258

This is what he looked like while we waited for the nurse to arrive.

We also had him weighed and measured:

Weight:
7/31/15: 8 lbs, 12 oz (Birth Weight), 89th percentile
8/2/15: 8 lbs, 2 oz (Discharge Weight), 70th percentile
8/3/15: 7 lbs, 12 oz (1st Weight Check), 55th percentile
8/6/15: 8 lbs, 6 oz (2nd Weight Check), 67th percentile
8/12/15: 9 lbs, 1 oz (3rd Weight Check), 72nd percentile
9/1/15: 12 lbs, 4 oz (1-month Check), 95th percentile(!!)
10/1/15: 16 lbs, 5 oz (2-month Check), 99th percentile(!!!!!)
12/1/15: 21 lbs (4-month Check), 100th percentile (A+!)
2/1/16: 22 lbs, 14 oz (6-month Check), 99th percentile
2/29/16: 24 lbs (7-month Check), 99th percentile

Length:
7/31/15: 21 inches, 97th percentile
9/1/15: 22 inches, 70th percentile
10/1/15: 24 inches, 89th percentile
12/1/15: 25.75 inches, 76th percentile
2/1/16: 27 inches, 66th percentile
2/29/16: 27.25 inches, 52nd percentile

It looks like his height needs to catch up to his weight. Fortunately, his head grew quite a bit this past month. That may have contributed to the increase in weight because his clothes still fit about the same as last month.

We’re at 30 weeks today! Wow. Time is really flying by and this little boy just keeps growing. It was tough getting a photo of him sitting next to Ducky today because he’s constantly on the move. That is also the typical expression we’re getting lately.

IMG_8064

This week, we were expecting teeth to pop out on his lower gumline but there’s nothing yet. He started sleeping through the night more consistently (3 nights in a row).  The biggest highlight of this week is that his poops are not coming as frequently. He went 3 straight days without pooping. Weird.  Maybe it’s all the food he’s eating. New stuff includes tofu and soft serve. Yes, that’s right…Dada dipped his pacifier in Janie’s soft serve the other day and he loved it.

Peanut is 29 weeks old today! This chunky monkey has escaped the cold/flu that the rest of the family had all week but we think he may be teething. There are some white lumps under the gums on his lower gum line and he was pretty fussy most of the week. Mama was home sick a few days this week and he did well having both Mama and Mimi around at the same time. In fact, it was fun to see how much he loves hanging out with her.  This week, he tried mango, yogurt, coconut cream drops, and rice crackers. So far, he hasn’t met a food that he doesn’t like. And we are happy that he’s not allergic to cow’s milk.

IMG_7845

He has a new expression that cracks Mama up all the time. He likes to crinkle his nose when he’s feeling mischievous or flirty.

IMG_7841

He’s also moving quite a bit on the floor and always looks like he’s about to crawl. Too bad the lower leg always gets stuck under his tummy.

Happy 29 weeks, Peanut!!!
