Uncle Ryan stopped by this evening to meet our little guy.
I think this is about the time Peanut made a big poop. Heh heh.
Watch us grow!

Once we got our discharge papers, it was time to get Peanut into the outfit that his big sister picked out for him. It was very appropriate since Tiger was her second name for him.
“Rawr!” He definitely inherited his great grandmother’s scowl.
Here’s the full outfit. So cute…
Once again, I’ve got a picture of Daddy with a grouchy baby going home.
He looked so small in the carseat.
Time to go home!!
Bye bye, hospital!!
With a rough morning of protests at home (didn’t want to wear shoes), we went to Oakland to do a little shopping and to pick up some lunch and treats for Mama’s friends.
We had lunch with Auntie Ranee, Auntie Stephanie, and Auntie Teresa again in the outpatient center. She didn’t eat much but had fun with her colored pencils and stickers.
When we got home, again, she didn’t want to take a nap. So, she quietly played with her farm stickers.
We had lunch in Japantown today. We tried out an organic ramen place.
Janie played with her flashcards while we waited for the food to arrive.
She got some of Dada’s broth and noodles today. Yum.
Afterward, we stopped at the fish store where Janie payed a visit to her favorite fishie – it’s the black moor goldfish with the big eyes and says “mum mum mum”.
She also watched the fish guy catch 6 red shrimp for us to take home.
At the last minute, we decided to drive down to Cerritos for Memorial Day Weekend. So after dinner around 7:30pm, we started driving. It was nice not to have any commute traffic and we should arrive at Yai’s house a little after midnight. Janie slept for most of the way and woke up once when we stopped for gas. She did a great job on this drive and didn’t complain when we hit 20 minutes of traffic on Interstate 5 as we were trying to pass through an accident site. We hope she’ll be able to go back to sleep once we arrive at the house.
This morning, Janie went to see the doctor for her 3-year check-up.
Every time we go back, the school bus toy in the waiting room seems a lot smaller.
Now that she’s 3 years old, she gets weighed on the big scale.
The nurse also measured her height in standing and Janie did a good job being still for the measurement even though she was very scared of the whole experience. Look at that worried expression on her face.
Here is how she measured up:
Weight: 33 lbs (74th percentile)
Height: 36.75 inches (44th percentile)
Another new thing she experienced was getting undressed in the room and putting on the big kid paper gown. Initially she refused to take her clothes off but she came around and tolerated the gown quite well.
She read a Winnie the Pooh book while we waited for the doctor. Once she arrived, she got her ears, eyes, heart, lungs, and tummy checked. She also refused to talk to the doctor – again. The doctor always has to trust that we are not reporting any speech delays because if it were up to her examination, Janie would be a mute.
At the end, she got a red lollipop and was so happy. However, still not happy enough to perform for the doctor. According to the doctor, she is growing well. We also registered Peanut for this office and will get to see his big sister’s doctor too. Hopefully by the time he arrives, Janie will be more willing to talk and interact with the doctor.
This kid loves “rice soup” and so does Mommy. So, this morning, we went back to Chinatown for the second weekend in a row.
It was perfect for a rainy morning.
This kid is pretty serious about her Chicken Rice and soup – one of her favorite meals of all time.

Once we all checked out, the family gathered one last time at the bar. Janie got some Dole whip and LOVED it…of course.
The view from the bar was so nice.
We tried to get a family photo taken but Janie is in a phase where she doesn’t always want to take a photo. So, this was the best we could get.
The cousins also gave each other hugs before heading to the airport. They’re so funny together.
The flight home was actually only 3.5 hours and Janie watched videos and grubbed on broccoli and carrots. We got home pretty late and she was pretty tired by then but we all got home safe and sound.
Janie had another day with Daddy today. She slept in until 9:30 and then she was up and ready to go out for the day. Her hair needed a little work so Daddy tried again.
Ta Da!! Two clips and a rubberband did the trick!
They first went to the mall for lunch at Chipotle. During lunch, she said “Dragons don’t like spicy salsa. I’m a dragon and you’re a rabbit. I don’t like spicy salsa.” Haha. She’s been reading her newest book “Dragons Love Tacos” lately and yesterday Daddy told her she was a dragon and he was a rabbit (Chinese zodiac signs). Funny girl.
After lunch, they hopped on the train and rode all the way to the end to get to the zoo. By the time she arrived, she was asleep in the stroller.
So, Daddy sat at the zoo playground to do some work while she slept.
Once she woke up, she got to see giraffes, lions, zebras, a hippo, and tigers. What a fun day with Daddy!!
