This evening, Janie entertained herself at the dinner table by building a castle out of her water cup, a book, her blocks, and her straw.
She also enjoyed reading her book aloud. I think the whole restaurant heard the Brown Bear story.
Watch us grow!

This evening, Janie made a bed of books and pretended to take a nap on it.
She later read “Llama Llama Misses Mama” and was so happy when Llama Mama came back!
She also sat down for some more books at her table and chairs.
This morning, Janie was in our bed watching Blue’s Clues while Daddy was on a call. When Mirian and Karla arrived, the two girls watched it together.
Daddy also went out to buy them all a special treat for breakfast. Janie got hotcakes and sausage today!
Later, they went to the library in the afternoon to read some books.
Daddy reads this book to her almost every night. She practically has it memorized but it does the trick most of the time.
We went out for dinner tonight to celebrate Mommy’s birthday.
Of course, she loved hanging out with Auntie Jia.
Look at all the dry-aged beef in the window! She really loved the prime rib and mushrooms tonight.
FaceTime is great for keeping these two cousins in touch. This morning, Janie read a book to her.
We brought home a few of the books that Auntie Marie dropped at Yai’s house.
This is her favorite one so far because it has all her favorite Sesame Street friends in it.
I like it because it’s about being a friend and sharing.
Mommy brought home her letter sticks from work last week and Janie got to play with them today for the first time. She caught on quickly and seemed to understand when to pick out the big and little lines and the big and little curves. We had to call the curves moons but she got the idea. She even called the little curves tiny-tiny moons. Funny girl. She seemed to enjoy the activity but we didn’t get through the whole alphabet just yet. I’m just glad it’s fun for her.
This morning, we were determined to get potty training started for real. So, we set Janie up with a pee pee station with books and even a little table for belongings. We also rolled up the rug and put her in underwear. It started out well and Janie was so excited to play this “game”. She sat on the potty just about every 15 minutes and for the first two hours, nothing was coming out. She kept having accidents in her underwear whenever she wasn’t sitting on the potty. Because she had wet three pairs of underwear with no success in the potty, we ended up having her just hang out at home half-dressed.
Finally (2-3 hours into the morning), she said, “uh oh, pee pee” and sat down on the potty. When she finished, she had to get my attention because at that point, I had almost given up. Then I looked to find pee in the potty and a proud little girl standing next to it. As a reward, she got a sticker on her potty chart and from then on, she totally got it. By noon, she had 4 stickers and she was doing it all on her own! By the way, this girl pees a lot! We’re glad that this morning was successful but I don’t think she’s anywhere near being ready to go out in public without a diaper. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.
One of the best parts of the day is when Janie is reunited with Mommy. Here she is riding the elevator back up after Mirian left for the day.
One of her favorite things to do lately is water the plants. She’s getting pretty good at using the squirt bottle.
After that, she perused a catalog that had lots of character stickers, bandaids, and other kid-friendly medical supplies. She pointed out all the Elsa and Anna stickers in the catalog. I love how junk mail can be so entertaining sometimes.
