Floor Time

Janie loves to play on the floor.  She still hasn’t mastered rolling from her back to her tummy but she’s certainly proud of going from her tummy to her back!

Everyone got off work early today so we each got to spend some extra daylight time with her on the floor.

Even Koa joined in on the fun.

Oh and Happy 10/11/12!!

Fleet Week

Janie took a trolley ride to watch the Blue Angels fly today.  Unfortunately, she slept through most of the show.

Lucky for us she can sleep through almost anything, including really loud jets zooming overhead.

Little Passenger

We’ve been so impressed with how good Janie’s been on our flights so far.  On our return flight this afternoon, she waited patiently with us at the gate for our delayed flight.

Then, while we were getting settled on the plane, she sat on Daddy’s seat with her toys.

During the flight she didn’t take a nap this time and just sat on my lap playing with her toys or sucking on G-raff.

On the shuttle bus back to the parking garage, she sat in her car seat and played with the giant water bottle.  I know it’s going to get harder from here on out but I’m gonna enjoy her now while she’s still easy.

5 months

Little Janie is 5 months old today!  This photo was taken hastily in the morning before I went to work so I didn’t get the chance to catch a smile.  It was pretty early for both of us.

I must say that this has been a really fun month with her.  On her tummy, she’s pushing up onto her hands instead of relying on just her elbows and forearms.  Unfortunately, she’s still not rolling but I’m secretly happy about this since we can still put her down on the bed without worrying as much.  She’s getting better with supported sitting.  Because of this, we’ve moved her to the other side of her bathtub and she now sits instead of reclines for her baths.

Her trunk is more upright and she will lift one of her hands off the ground to grab for a toy.  She’s also been way more interested in her toys this month.  We can now leave her alone for 15-20 minutes with her rings, the ball, French Sophie, or G-raffe and she will sit and quietly play alone.  This comes in handy when we’re eating dinner or when I’m getting ready for work.

Speaking of work, Daddy went back to work and we hired Mirian.  I thought the transition would be hard but Mirian has made it really easy for us.  Janie liked her from the start and ever since we started, she’s been sleeping through the night!  Amazing!  The schedule that I worked on so diligently the month before returning to work has really stuck and we even got to wean her off her 5th feeding at 11 pm.

At her doctor visit this month, Janie weighed in at 18 pounds, 3 oz and she’s now 25.75 inches long.  She’s still wearing her 6 months clothes but it looks like the 9-month clothes will need to wait in the wings sooner than we expected.

We took her to the California Academy of Science this month and she really enjoyed the aquarium on the bottom floor.  It’s so exciting to see the world through her eyes.

Janie also had her first play date with her pal Sophie who moved back to California earlier this month.  It was so fun to watch them interact. She also met her new friend Zoe and looked like such a big girl next to her!

It looks like Little Janie is no longer a newborn and she’s a full-fledged baby with a little personality that’s bubbling to the surface.  Can’t wait to see what’s next!  Happy 5 Months, Baby Girl!  We love you!

1st Camping Trip

Janie went on her first camping trip this weekend.  It was a short 24-hour adventure to a campground just outside of South Lake Tahoe.

We made a little spot for her to hang out under the trees.  That’s our tent in the background.

Temps were in the 90s but napping under the shade was nice and breezy.

She got to sleep in a tent and shared a sleeping bag with Mommy when it got cold.

This is Janie hanging out in front of the campfire.

Janie seemed to enjoy the great outdoors and she was in a great mood the whole day.  We also managed to get her home without a single mosquito bite!  Success!

Fisherman’s Wharf

Today we took Janie to Fisherman’s Wharf.  She always seems to enjoy the bus ride.

This is what she thought of the stinky sea lions.

Here’s Janie with Yai in front of Alcatraz.  I guess it’s a little too far for her to see and appreciate.   She seemed more interested in the seagull walking by.

Perfect Passenger…almost.

Our flight home was pretty smooth thanks to our good little passenger and an unusually short 4.5-hour flight home.  Janie sat quietly on Mommy’s seat while we stowed our belongings.

She also finished a bottle and used her pacifier during take-off, slept for about 2.5 hours on Mommy’s lap, and finished another bottle during the landing.

Only problem was that she pooped when we landed and had to wait an extra 20 minutes before getting to the gate.  That’s when she cried and cried and the flight attendant allowed Daddy to take her to the lavatory while everyone had to remain seated.

Overall, it was a successful flight and a wonderful first vacation for Little Janie.
