Manhattan Beach

Janie went to Cousin Alice’s house after the Farmer’s Market and borrowed one of Alice’s swim outfits. We’re going to the beach today!!

Back at Yai’s house, Peanut put on his beach outfit.

Toni and Thomas also went to the beach with us and all the kids had a fun time snacking and playing by the beach.

They shared toys and Peanut shared his Cheerios with Thomas.

Dada was on lifeguard duty while Janie had a fun time in the waves. She did not seem as nervous about Mr. Ocean today.

Peanut also went into the water for a bit and LOVED having the waves rush under him. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any photos of all the fun.

Alice had cheese chips for lunch today and got orange fingers. Yum.

What a fun day at the beach!!

Cerritos Farmer’s Market

The kids were up early with Ta this morning.

They went outside to watch Yai watering the plants.

We also went to the local Farmer’s Market and picked up some pluots, nectarines, and Hulapop!!

Uncle Johnny ran from home to meet us there and the breakfast hotdog was delicious.

Peanut had his cereal in the stroller and then took a nap while Mama walked him back to the house.

Janie had grown out or worn out a few of her shoes so we thought it would be a good time to take a trip to the outlets in Livermore. The weather was perfectly warm but breezy and the outdoor shopping mall had lots of shade.

There was a Toys R Us outlet shop and Janie was excited to see the Octonauts section.

On top of shoes, Janie scored some new clothes too. At the Puma store, Dada picked out this cute fushia jacket and some matching running shorts.

Peanut was a good little passenger in the stroller today and was rewarded with yummy pretzel bites at the end of the day!

Late Morning

Surprisingly, everyone got to sleep in until 8am. Peanut got up and then Janie came in to join us in bed.

We all snuggled up for a couple family selfies. Say “seaweeeeed!”

Then it was time to get out of bed because this guy was getting out of hand. Rawr!!

And this is his raspberry face!

Pool Party

Today, we had Rowan and Isla over for a little pool party. Dada grilled up lunch and Mama made guacamole. These two sat down for a snack together as soon as they arrived.

Janie got a few new swim outfits in the mail this month and now she’s a big kid in regular swim bottoms instead of swim diapers.

Rowan and Isla brought pool noodles.

In the meantime, Peanut hung out with Mama in the clubroom. He eventually went down for his nap too. Aaaaah.

After swimming, the kids got a snack, juice, and some Octonauts. They had so much fun together today.

Parent-Teacher Conference

We had Janie’s end-of-the-year Parent-Teacher Conference today. Miss Denise had lots of nice things to say and that Janie was ready to move on to the Whale Class. In fact, we got notice that she is slated to start August 1st!

After the conference, we went to Waterbar for a snack.

As we waited for our server, Janie perused the wine list and Mama taught her how to use a Table of Contents. We played a game where she would find the page that a certain “chapter” started. She was also able to read the words “beer” and “red”. She was very excited about that. All the other words were a too complicated (i.e. sauvignon blanc).

The oysters were yummy today!

Meanwhile, Peanut snacked on melon that Mama brought. Janie took this photo.

In addition to what we orderd, she also finished off a pack of gummies that she opened after school. She thought ti was hilarious that her tongue was blue.

New Dinner Spot

A new food truck park opened near our house this week. It’s like the one we go to next to Costco but we can walk to this one. It’s located just down the street from the Peanut’s birth hospital. This food park has an old double-decker bus. Janie loved “driving”.

It also has her favorite pizza truck and she ate 3 slices all on her own today!!

The kids had a fun time on this warm Friday evening.

On our way home, we stopped at Safeway and Janie kept Peanut entertained while we were in the check-out line. What a good big sister!

Father’s Day 2016

Today is Father’s Day so we took Dada out for dinner at Hillstone.

The restaurant got rid of all their highchairs/booster seats so we came prepared with our own this time. It fit perfectly in the booth and Peanut had a great time eating off his own tray. We were also able to attach toys to the chair to keep him occupied for the 2-hour meal.

He got a taste of just about everything we ate plus his food PLUS gave the snack catcher a try!

We also brought an old bottle that we’ve been saving for so many years for this occasion.

For dessert, we had key lime pie and the nice waitress put a candle on it just for kicks.

Both kids ate well and were on their best behavior tonight to make this an extra-special meal. Happy Father’s Day, Dada!!

Happy Friday!

Peanut was napping by the time we arrived home so we took Janie out for a snack and outdoor time. At The Yard, there was a mini arcade and Janie had a fun time pretending to play.

The artificial lawn outside was fun for running and rolling around.

She also did some jumping and crashing on one of the inflatable couches outside.

Once Peanut was up and had his milk, we picked him up early so Mimi could go home.

We went down to MoMo’s for Happy Hour – they have $1 oysters!!

Janie played with her Gups while we waited for the food to arrive and she immediately started cleaning up when the oysters arrived. Now THAT’S motivation!!
