Mama got out of jury duty early so Janie got a surprise at the end of her school day when Mama came to pick her up.
It was fun to see what Dada and Janie’s evening commute looks like. Pretty soon, their commute will not include this Muni stop so we took a photo to preserve the memory.
She also went to Safeway with Mama before dinner. It’s one of her favorite things to do in the neighborhood.
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants is La Briciola. It’s an Italian restaurant complete with white linens and bread basket. Both kids were on their best behavior tonight and made it such a pleasant dining experience.
They sat through the bread course, appetizer course, pasta and rice course, meat course, and even dessert!
Both kids loved the linguini and clams and Peanut had some risotto. They both tried the lamb and asked for more. Janie also ordered the dessert herself – fresh strawberries with vanilla gelato. Yum!
It’s good to know that we can still do some fine dining with these two monsters. We were so proud of them tonight.
As if getting held down and poked at the hospital wasn’t already bad enough. This afternoon, we took Peanut to Dada’s Supercuts for another haircut. His hair was getting pretty long and shaggy.
While he waited his turn (Dada had an appointment first), he watched Janie play a game on Dada’s phone.
He also entertained himself with a few selfies.
Here is the before and after comparison. He looked like such a big boy after his haircut and we could see his ears again!
He tried to walk home from the shop but he was too slow and clumsy so he got a ride on Dada’s shoulders the rest of the way.
We went out for dinner this evening to one of our usual places – Public House.
Janie ordered the mini corndogs from the kids menu today.
This may be our last time at this restaurant for a while so we took a family photo at our usual table in the corner.
Janie’s “boyfriend” Sota is moving to Japan in a little more than a week. He had a going-away party at his apartment and we were there early enough for the two kids to have some alone time before the others arrived.
Peanut had a fun time with their tunnel.
The apartment was on the 9th floor and it was overlooking the Caltrain Station.
They also enjoyed watching the excavator working to fill a giant pothole down below.
We managed to get a group photo of the the kids together. All the boys are from Janie’s class. If you look out the window, you can see our building down the street!

I was up early this morning and just hanging out on the sofa when this little girl climbed up on top of me for a morning snuggle. So, we took a selfie.
We visited the aquarium today and Peanut had a fun time walking around like her owned the place.
His new favorite thing is backing up to things to sit down. I still remember when Janie was in that stage.
We went on the “living roof” before heading home and got a photo of this crazy kid.
Then she took a photo of Mama and Dada. Nice job!
This little guy is easily becoming a Mama’s boy. He also likes looking at himself in the front-facing camera on Mama’s phone.
I’m in love again. Yesterday, this little boy learned how to give a smooch on the cheek and I got the first one. Don’t know how he figured it out but I’m so happy to get them. He often does it unprompted, which is so sweet.
