Mirian took this photo of Peanut during story time at the library. She said that he’s moving a lot more now and tries to pull up on the bookshelves too.
AT&T Park
The playground at the ballpark was open today so we went inside to play. It’s nice to be able to play without the crowds.
Janie tried tee ball at the mini field and learned how to swing a bat.

We had to teach her how to hit, drop the bat, and run the bases. Initially, she’d hit the ball and then run toward the pitcher’s mound with the bat in her hand to retrieve the ball.
Peanut also got to explore the field and pulled himself up on the bench.
What a cute photo of Janie and her Dada.
9 months
Peanut is 9 months old today and it takes a fast finger to take a photo of him on his back like this.
This is what he looks like most of the time nowadays.
This has been a big month for our little mover. Here are the highlights:
- Gross Motor: He mastered crawling and pulling up to stand – two huge milestones! Now’s roaming the house and getting into lots of mischief when he can.
- Teeth: Peanut grew another bottom tooth!
- Speech: He makes lots of noise and his favorite sound is “da-da”. He says is mostly when he’s really happy. He only recently starting saying “ma-ma” when he’s not mad.
- Fine Motor: Picking up food with his thumb and index finger now. He does less smashing into his mouth too.
- Sleep: We went through a period of waking every 3 hours at night but he’s now waking and getting himself back to sleep without any help. He definitely cries but Mama doesn’t have to get up anymore. Yay sleep!! He also started sleeping in the pack-n-play this past month and we handed down his co-sleeper to Henry’s little brother who will be born any day now! Bedtime is consistently between 7 and 8 every evening. Naps are still around 9am for an hour and 1pm for about 2 hours.
- Food: This boy loves to eat and has moved onto to soft cubes and shredded or ground meat. New stuff includes egg, noodles, rice, bread, lemon, cheese, and green beans.
- Other: Peanut flew on a plane back from Cerritos earlier this month and got his own seat. Yai was also in town for a week while Dada was in France and then came back the following week with the rest of the family to celebrate big sister’s 4th birthday.
- Clothes and Diapers: Still in Size 4 diapers and still in 12-18 month clothes.
Happy 9 months, Big Boy!!
tall kneel
This little mover has been trying to stand up but he’s only been able to get up onto his knees.

It took him a week to get back to crawling and now he’s going much farther and staying on in quadruped for much longer now. Here comes trouble!!
252 days
Peanut is 36 weeks old today and so much has happened. We didn’t get a photo with Ducky last Friday so here’s a recap of the past two weeks:
- He’s crawling – well, sorta!!! It started on Saturday (4/2) in Cerritos when he took about 4 steps forward on his hands and knees. Then he sort of lost it the rest of this past week. Not sure what’s happened but he’s been scooting backwards again. Hm…
- Trip to Cerritos. We had a tax appointment last Sunday (4/3) so we flew down for a long weekend. This was his 3rd trip on a plane and suddenly 90 minutes feels like nothing compared to 5 hours to Hawaii! We even scored a seat for him in both directions. Awesome.
- Eating monster: Peanut eats everything we put in front of him and manages all kinds of textures. New foods include cheese, bread, Chinese long beans, pieces of shredded chicken, steamed carrots.
- Teeth!! He has grown 2 more teeth! The first two (front lower) appeared on the weekend of 3/19 and then two more (front uppers) appeared a week later on 3/26.
- Sleep has been tough still but he got in a couple of longer stretches at night this past week. However, sleeping in Cerritos was a little harder for him than we expected.
- Peanut broke out in a rash this past week all over his legs and face. It may have been because of the antibiotics that Mama had to take. Luckily his skin has already started healing.
- Wiggling side to side. This guy is so funny and now he does this “happy dance” when he’s eating. He’ll also imitate you if you do it first.
It’s become quite a challenge getting this photo taken lately and now it’s even harder now that he’s figured out how to stay on all fours for longer.
There he goes! He just won’t sit in one place anymore!
Finally, I got him to sit still but he had to be chewing on this wooden hammer. Ridiculous.
Happy 36 weeks, Little Monster!!
Crawling!!!
This afternoon, Peanut figured out how to crawl forward. I think it’s the plush carpet that gave him a little more traction.

8 months
Peanut turned 8 months old today and what a month it has been! He’s had a lot of growth and change.
Highlights:
- Gross Motor: He learned how to sit himself up from his tummy. He’s been trying to crawl but just ends up going backwards.
- Eating: We’ve been a lot more adventurous with his diet this month. New foods include: cucumber, steamed carrots, steamed brocolli, beef, chicken, pork, chicken liver, prunes, blueberries, soft serve, and even Auntie Vyl’s pound cake.
- Teeth: Peanut grew his first teeth this month! He got two bottoms first and then two top teeth a week later!!
- Fine Motor: He’s picking up little puffs with his fingers now and stuffs his mouth very efficiently nowadays. He loves to manipulate the different parts of his toys including flicking, spinning, turning, and patting. His favorite toys are still the stacking cups and plastic links. He also likes his O-ball car. He’s also banging two toys together pretty consistently.
- Speech: Peanut is a very vocal little boy and can be quite noisy in the morning. He makes a variety of sounds including “da”, “bwa”, “ba”, and “ma”. He says “Dada” a lot. Can we consider that his first word? He also blows raspberries all day.
- Expressions: This guy is full of funny expressions including wrinkling his nose, tilting his head to one side, smiling with his mouth wide open, and of course the pout. Sometimes it feels like he’s a little ball of ever-changing emotions.
- Events: Lots of illnesses including a virus that ended with a rash all over his body. He went to Lake Tahoe to see snow for the first time and had a good time. We took lots of trips to the aquarium and went to two different zoos this month. He’s also been going to the library for story time more consistently.
Happy 8 Months, Baby Boy! Love you!!
under
Somehow he got underneath his jumparoo today. He enjoyed it for a bit until he realized he couldn’t get back out.
231 days
Peanut is 33 weeks old today and it’s getting increasingly harder to get a photo of him SITTING next to Ducky.
Highlights from this past week:
- Peanut started to sleep better this week with longer stretches most of the week. Unfortunately, he’s still an early riser even with the time change. He just gets up at 5am instead of 4am. Hooray.
- The most exciting part of this past week was our trip to Tahoe. He got to see, touch, and even taste snow. He had a great time but didn’t like being bundled up with so many layers.
- New foods: oatmeal, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, blueberries.
- He’s also become a little more regular now that we’ve added prunes and pears to his daily diet.
- A new expression he has this week is the cute head tilt. He’s also craning his neck around things to get a better look. He especially does this to watch his sister moving around the room.
- His fine motor skills are coming along nicely. He picks up puffs very easily now and started banging toys together when he plays.
- We don’t have a crawler yet but he’s getting so close! I see him on all fours and rocking back and forth a lot more often now. He’s also pulling up to his knees when he has a steady surface nearby. We are going to be in big trouble when he figures out the whole crawling thing.
Happy 33 weeks, Peanut! You are such a funny little guy with so much personality.
