Outdoor Dining

Restrictions were lifted recently that now allows for outdoor dining. We were so happy to be able to eat at a restaurant again after so many months. We went to Trabocco to have one of our favorite meals.

First Day of Distance Learning

We may be starting with Distance Learning but we still have to take a first-day-of-school photo!!

I remember what a milestone it was for Janie to start Kindergarten. Take a look at a comparison to her first day of K photo!! Both have the same cheesy excited smile. So cute.

After the photos, we all went back inside and hopped on their first Zoom class. Ms. Wells looks so nice and Peanut seemed to follow along just fine.

He made a First Day of Kindergarten crown and name tag just like Janie did!

Here he is wearing his gearn with the rest of the class.

This was Ms. Wells reading the class a story about Chester, their class mascot.

Here is Janie in her first class with Ms. Suzuki. She is an older and more experienced teacher with lots of rules and instructions. 3rd grade is a big jump from 2nd grade! What’s nice is that Janie’s old classmates from Ms. Bliss’ class are all back together again!

Kindergarten Packet Pick-up

Today was Peanut’s packet pick-up day. It was another drive-by event.

When it was time to receive his materials, we asked if this teacher was Ms. Wells and it was!! It was a great coincidence that his assigned teacher was the one that gave him his packet!!! She looks really nice!

Peanut got all his school supplies, a Chrome book, and materials for the first 4 weeks of school.

This is what was in his first week packet. So exciting!

Back to Aquatech

After the inital shutdown due to shelter-in-place orders, Aquatech opened back up in mid-June. Now that the kids are back from their “summer camp”, we got them started again.  They have limited capacity, less number of lanes used,  no showers or changing stalls available, and the instructors wear a face shield. It’s also limited to one caregiver at a time with a one-way enter/exit protocol. Glad they can continue their lessons safely. Also thankful they were able to swim a bunch this summer at Uncle Jason’s community pool.

Preschool Pick-up

With Shelter-in-Place happening so suddenly and Peanut’s school closing over a weekend, we didn’t have the chance to bring home his belongings. Months later, we were given a day to pick up what he had in his cubby, which included his sunscreen, bandaids, medicine, and some school supplies. This notebook was sent home and it was fun to see the work he did over the first half of the year.

Haircut for Peanut

Like everyone else right now, Peanut has grown quite a mop head due to the closure of hair salons since March. In Orange County, hair salons recently opened at limited capacity so Peanut finally got his hair cut! He refused to wear a mask but the stylist did what she could with all her PPE on.

Heading South

School is out so we are heading south to Cerritos! It’s our first road trip since February and everyone is excited to get out of town.

The kids were good about not touching anything if they had to go to the public restroom and ate in their lunch in the car.

We stopped at Harris Ranch to check out their meats. The kids brought their point-and-shoot cameras along to snap photos of everything in sight.

It was a nice place to stretch out legs, take a bathroom break (in a very clean place), and get out sillies out.

We also walked away with a lot of meat to cook this week!

We had a quick drive down (no traffic) and the kids did a great job keeping themselves occupied.

Out of Quarantine

It’s been over two months of SIP and the neighborhood kids have come out to play. They maintained their distance and played Foursquare and Dodgeball in our driveway this afternoon, which was refreshing to see.
