Before bed, Janie did some painting with her watercolors. She’s learning how to keep the colors separate.

She also had a good time making hand prints too.

Watch us grow!

Peanut is enjoyed a morning at the Children’s Creativity Museum and Janie learned about things that float and sink at school.
I have no idea what those objects were but her drawings are pretty cute.

We had Janie’s end-of-the-year Parent-Teacher Conference today. Miss Denise had lots of nice things to say and that Janie was ready to move on to the Whale Class. In fact, we got notice that she is slated to start August 1st!

After the conference, we went to Waterbar for a snack.

As we waited for our server, Janie perused the wine list and Mama taught her how to use a Table of Contents. We played a game where she would find the page that a certain “chapter” started. She was also able to read the words “beer” and “red”. She was very excited about that. All the other words were a too complicated (i.e. sauvignon blanc).

The oysters were yummy today!

Meanwhile, Peanut snacked on melon that Mama brought. Janie took this photo.

In addition to what we orderd, she also finished off a pack of gummies that she opened after school. She thought ti was hilarious that her tongue was blue.

Happy Friday, Everyone!!

Mama picked up Janie today and found her making tracks with Magna-Tiles for the trains. She’s been into trains lately and now I see why.

Her teacher also sent home a collection of pictures that she has drawn over the school year with her words dictated by her teacher. Most of them are based on a series of Jack and Annie books. Is it a coincidence that she drew Annie with slanted eyes in this picture?!

This one was my favorite (and the most recent). That figure on the right in orange-yellow is Little Guy. The dots are her spots, the two lines are her legs, and the squiggles are her body/mane. Her drawing of a person still doesn’t have a body but she’s added fingers and toes. Interesting.

Janie drew her family this morning. She tried to label them herself too.

I love how she spelled “Peanut Tyler”. I can see where she was going there.

This painting came home from school and it was called “Solar System” . It’s really pretty and will be a keeper. Mama will have to find a frame for it.

Mama draws out a “map” just about every night. This evening, Janie decided to draw it herself. After some time, I realized her drawings are very similar representations of what is usually drawn. You can guess what they are and then look at the key below. I found a very similar copy of the evening routine after dinner. Her drawing skills are coming along nicely.

Janie did some painting with watercolors this evening.

This one is called “Flying Swords!”

Then she painted Captain Barnacles. Not bad, kid.

She also did a reading lesson with Dada and then practiced writing the letters d, r, and e with Mama.

School was closing early today so I had to leave work early to get there on time. It also happened to be Parent Day and I caught the tail end of it. When she saw me, she said “you’re late!” Oh well, at least I was there for some of it.

All the kids had a gift for their parents. Hers said “My mom’s job is to put Peanut to bed and to bring me my giraffe. Dad’s job is reading books to us.”

She also had a quick snack of strawberries, pound cake, and whipped cream before heading home.

On the board this month are new Words of Wisdom. The question this month is “How I Help My Mom and Dad”.

Janie said “I help Mom and Dad with Peanut. I put the bottle in the kitchen.”

She also drew this house on the table cover on the snack table. She pointed it out across the table and said the star at the top was for Mama “for doing everything by herself without Daddy”. I thought I was gonna cry.
