On a whim, we decided to drive to Brentood (an hour from home) to go pick our own cherries. Janie loves cherries so she was fired up for it! We went to Chavez U-Pick Cherry Farm where they have the cheapest price per pound ($3.50/lb).
With bucket in hand, Janie went to town on those trees. It’s nice that the trees are super low to the ground so she was able to do all the picking herself without needing a ladder or someone to lift her up.
With the picking, there was lots of snacking too. This kid had a great time doing both.
Peanut also got to taste his first cherries and LOVED it.
He was fighting Dada for each and every piece and Dada couldn’t keep up!
Nom nom nom…
We ended up with about a half bucket. It was all Janie could carry.
Of course, there was a little quality control inspection before heading to the scale but she did a pretty good job!
I think Peanut had just as good of a time. Those cherries were so sweet!!
We actually managed to get a decent family photo together today too.
When we got home, Mama washed them all and put them in a giant container in the fridge. Yum!! This 4-pound batch should last us about a week.
