12 weeks

IMG_1265

Peanut is 12 weeks old today!  We didn’t have room for Senor Fatty Fat Fat in our suitcase so there will be no ducky photo this week.  However, we’ll still recount events from this past week.

  • Peanut took his first ride on an airplane and did a GREAT job!  No blowouts or major crying spells too!!
  • In Vancouver, he met lots of new family members and slept really well on the first night (9 hours!!)
  • He also rolled from his tummy to his back for the first time.
  • Sleep at night is becoming more consistent with about 6-8 hours and then waking every 1.5-2 hours afterward.  7am is still his most alert and awake time of the day.

Happy 12 weeks, Big Boy!!

This big girl is 3 and a half years old today!!!!!  Boy oh boy…so much has happened in the last 3 months for this bundle of energy and sass.  Let’s review:

  • Janie became a BIG SISTER!!!!!!  She welcomed her baby brother to the world with open arms and has been so helpful. She is so proud to be a big sister and hasn’t shown any jealousy.  However, he definitely (and appropriately) makes herself known when she needs to.  Her favorite phrase in these occasions is “don’t forget about me!”
  • Grandma was here for 2 months and they really bonded.  It’s great to see them together.
  • Janie started preschool during this period and had some tears (as expected) during the first month but now she will say “bye mom – go to work now”.  She has made friends and even started soccer and yoga.
  • Fine motor: Janie mastered buttoning and unbuttoning her PJs and opening the  string cheese wrapper all on her own!
  • “Frozen” is still a hit with her but she has also started watching “The Octonauts”, which is a refreshing change for Mama and Dada.
  • Janie went on a family trip to Napa twice in September and got to hang out with Zoe and her cousin Alice on the different trips.
  • Taking walks outside is getting a lot easier and we don’t have to take the stroller all the time.
  • We also had several play dates and got to hang out with Sophie more.
  • She has become a little more selective about what she eats and when but she is still a great eater.
  • We started a token system recently and it has taught her how to be a big girl at home and outside.  She has also added some new chores around the house including putting away everyone’s shoes and putting away the utensils from the dishwasher.
  • Stats: Height is 37 inches.  Weight is around 33 pounds.  She’s wearing 3T and 4T clothes.  Got a flu shot like a champ.  Started taking albuterol for her cough.

Happy 42 months, Big Girl!!  We love you so much and loves watching you learn and grow!

Peanut is 11 weeks old today.  It’s been a calm week with not a lot of changes.

DSC_7315

This is what he’s been up to this week:

  • He’s got his hands in his mouth a lot more often.
  • Sleep at night ranges from 5-8 hours and naps can vary from 30 mins to 3 hours during the day.  We also find that he wakes up at 7am pretty consistently and it’s his most awake, alert, and happy time of day.
  • Tummy time and floor time is getting more interesting for him and he’s lasted up to 20 minutes.  He also started batting at the toys hanging above him.

Happy 11 weeks, Peanut!

Look who’s 9 weeks old today!  This is probably the last time he’ll wear this outfit because his head is getting too big for the opening.  This guy is growing so fast and Mama’s getting quite a workout.  Highlights

  • Laughing!! Mama was so happy to hear him chuckle this week for the first time.  Just like clockwork, he had his first laugh as soon as he was 2 months old.  Sometimes it sounds like he’s sort of crying but he has a giant grin on his face.
  • More smiling and interaction: Peanut will just look up at you and give you a big cheeky smile sometimes.  This was happening a lot when he’s just had a diaper change.
  • Biggest part of this week was meeting his maternal grandfather, Uncle Johnny, Auntie Joy, and cousin Alice.  They came up for a long weekend and we all went to Napa to celebrate Mama and Uncle’s birthdays.
  • Stats: 16 lbs 5 oz and 24 inches long.  Wearing Size 2 Diapers.  Moving into 6-12 month clothes.  Got a shot in each thigh and an oral med this week.  Sleeping up to 6-7 hours once per night.

Happy 9 weeks, Peanut!!

I knew that he was getting heavy but WOW!!

IMG_0352

Mama got a high five from the doctor when she walked in and Peanut did everything he was supposed to for the doctor. It was like he knew he was supposed to show off his new skills to her.

IMG_0354

He smiled, made some cooing sounds, and even put his hand in his mouth.  The doctor said he looked great and was very happy with his progress thus far.

IMG_0355

Unfortunately, Peanut was due for a few vaccinations this visit.

IMG_0356

He got an oral one first and then a shot in each thigh.

Ouch.  Poor baby.

This chubby little boy is 8 weeks old today!  He has really packed on the chub and we had a fun week watching him change before our eyes.

  • We’re getting a lot more of the big smiles and he’s trying to talk to us with some cooing and squeaks.
  • Mama had to take out and wash the 6-month clothes this week and the Size 1 diapers are getting a little snug.
  • This past week, Dada was also away from both kids for the first time.  Luckily, Yai was still around to help Mama out.
  • Outings: Went shopping at the outlet and visited the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito for the first time.
  • The most significant part of this week was that Peanut found his hands and has been tasting them a lot.  Now he has one more thing to keep himself occupied when Mama’s trying to get chores done around the house!

Happy 8 weeks, Peanut!

First Baseball Game

IMG_0242

As you all know, we live right next to the baseball stadium.  Janie has always liked watching baseball on tv and has been asking to “go inside” for a while now.  So, Mama found a really good deal ($8 tickets!!) and we went tonight.  Unfortunately, it was sprinkling this evening but that didn’t stop us!  Janie was so excited!!  It was her first baseball game and Peanut’s too!  Too bad he was all covered up in the carrier and slept through almost all of it.

IMG_0244

When we entered the gate, we all received the game’s give-away item of the day.  It was a Giants belt buckle.  Haha.  We didn’t care for it but Janie wanted to hold onto hers.

IMG_0248

There was a trolley at the top of the stairs and she couldn’t wait to climb on.

IMG_0257

Our seats were on the bleachers and we arrived just before the game started.

IMG_1093

Janie watched warm-ups from the lower bleachers and couldn’t take her eyes off the field to take a picture.

IMG_0253

We stood for the National Anthem and Janie held both hands over her heart and listened quietly to the children singing.

IMG_0264

We went over to the Coke bottle slide to see if Janie was tall enough to ride and she is officially a big kid now at around 37 inches.  Woohoo!  Too bad the slide was closed because it was too wet.  However, it didn’t matter because Janie just wanted to go back to our seats to watch the game.

IMG_0272

She also asked for popcorn.  That was all she wanted to eat and was so happy to have a small bag to hold in her grubby little hands.

IMG_0274

IMG_0269

This is one happy little girl.  She actually liked watching the game and clapped and cheered with the crowd.  Luckily it had stopped sprinkling long enough for us to enjoy part of the game.

IMG_0277

Peanut woke up for a bit and got to experience some of the sights and sounds.

IMG_0251
Dada also got lots of props in the mens’ restroom as he changed Peanut’s diaper. All the guys walking by were so pumped for him and said, “Wow, how old is he?” and “It’s the little guy’s first baseball game!”

IMG_0279

We stayed for about an hour and half before heading home.  It was a fun evening for everyone!

Peanut is 6 weeks old today and he’s grown quite a bit this past week.  He feels heftier and heavier with his clothes fitting tighter too.  Here are some highlights from this week:

  • Went on a trip to Napa with the family and endured the crazy heat like a trooper.
  • We’re having to put away some of his 0-3 month clothes this week.
  • Peanut is smiling more but we’re still not sure if it’s gas or a real smile yet.  Yai is the one who makes him smile the most.  Mama is just happy that he was smiling the morning we were taking pictures of him with his friends in Napa.
  • I’ve noticed that he’s kicking his legs reciprocally now.  He’s also been exploring and trying to grab onto his puppy with his hands.

Peanut is 5 weeks old today!  It’s hard to believe that he’s a month old already!  Here are highlights from this past week:

  • He has put on some quite a bit of weight and had his 1-month check-up on Monday.  He is now an impressive 12 pounds, 4 ounces and no longer has jaundice.
  • He has outgrown newborn diapers and newborn clothes.  He’s now in 0-3 and 3-month clothes.  Even those are looking a little snug around the belly.
  • We picked up his birth certificate this week and we’ll be applying for his first passport soon.
  • He’s sleeping for more 4-hour stretches lately but still eating tons.
  • Smiles and eye contact are coming more frequently and he’s been enjoying the mobile more this week.  He’s also grown fond of his big sister and will watch her eat and play at times when he’s wide awake.
