It was so warm in SF today that Janie was able to take her afternoon nap with the window open and without pants or socks. What a rare occasion!
Room for Two and a Half
We need to get a King-sized bed. We stayed in a hotel room that had one and there was plenty of room for Janie to sleep between us. She slept with us after her 4:30 am feeding and this is what I woke up to at 8:00 am. She sleeps just like Daddy and seems pretty happy about it.
First Night in a Hotel
We’re staying in a hotel suite this weekend and last night Little Janie slept in the portable bed we brought from home. We kept the routine the same last night and it was business a usual this morning. Good girl!
The Little Details
Janie’s hands have filled out and her fingers are no longer wrinkled.
I love these Trumpette socks. They don’t fall off as easily as the others that we have and make her look that she’s wearing shoes.
She always looks so peaceful when she sleeps. I can’t help staring and snapping photos.

Janie is 6 weeks old today! This week we’ve gotten her feeds to stretch to 3-4 hours more consistently and she slept 5 hours straight for the first time on Monday night! She’s also officially wearing her 3-month clothes now, which are a little big for her but the newborn stuff is way too snug. I guess she’s in between sizes right now.
Cultured
At 5 weeks of age, Janie has grown big enough to wear the hoodie that she got from her second cousin Sadie. It was perfect for today’s walk outside and her first trip to the SF Museum of Modern Art.
Too bad she slept through the whole thing. She would have enjoyed the twinkling lights on display in the entrance.
35 days
Today, Janie is 5 weeks old! She was fast asleep for this photo and way too peaceful to disturb. She now weighs 11 pounds and measures 21.5 inches long. She still fits some of her newborn clothes but today I took out her 3-month clothes to see which ones she could start wearing today. We’re going to have to pack away some of her newborn clothes very soon. *sniff sniff*
It’s official!
Today, we went to City Hall and the Office of Vital Records to pick up Janie’s birth certificate. I filled out some paperwork while we were still in the hospital but it wasn’t going to be ready until 4 weeks after her birthday. When we got there, there was no line! Yay! Within 5 minutes, Janie had her birth certificate in her hot little hands to show off to the world.
We also took her around San Francisco City Hall for the first time since this is her birth city and all.
Hula Girl
Janie likes to be upright even when she sleeps so she sometimes naps in the stroller. Today I found her practicing her hula in her sleep. That’s my girl! Can’t wait to take her to practice when she’s older.
