bedtime

IMG_9310

Janie has been really good about brushing her teeth before bed.

IMG_9313

This past week has been a rough one when it comes to bedtime.  Janie has been fighting bedtime and would cry if placed in the pack-n-play but then roll around unable to sleep when she’s on the sofa bed too.  Over the weekend, she was up every hour all through the night and would cry or start talking non-sense like “outside!” and “all done!”  She’s probably going through a physical and mental growth spurt.  I’m just so glad that she has been able to fall asleep on her own in the pack-n-play the last two nights (including tonight).  I don’t really understand what’s happening right now but I’m so happy to have a sleeping toddler in her own bed again.  She also seems to like the ducky pillow that Auntie Karen bought for Mommy last week.

Sleeping?!

IMG_9133

This evening, Janie climbed onto the sofa and pretended to go to sleep on the pillow.  She does this sometimes and then starts busting out in laughter.  This time she actually fell asleep!  Wow, she just put herself to bed.  Now, how long do I wait before I move her to her actual bed???

Monday with Mommy

IMG_9098

After her morning doctor’s appointment, Janie got to spend the day with Mommy.  We dropped the car off at home and then rode the train to Union Square.  For lunch, she asked for “bacon and noodles and soup” so we went to Bangkok Noodles.  She was pretty happy with 2 out of 3 things in one bowl.

IMG_9099

It’s a crowded little hole-in-the-wall restaurant so we were seated at a 2-top sitting across from each other.  Janie did just a good job sitting in the grown–up chair without squirming too much and she didn’t spill any of her soup or water today.  Mommy and Janie shared a big bowl of boat noodle soup.  Yum.  So happy.

After lunch, we walked around to take care of some errands and when it struck 12:00, she was out for the count.

long afternoon

IMG_9067

After our trip to the zoo, we had a late lunch at Blue Line Pizza where they have Magna Doodles for the kids.  Cool!

IMG_9075

Then we went next door to Trader Joe’s where Janie got to walk around a bit and explore.

IMG_9076

She picked out these flowers and helped put them in the shopping cart.

IMG_9077

Janie really liked the sweet potato they were serving at the tasting table.  She kept asking for more so we each asked for one at different times so she had 3 helpings.  I guess she likes sweet potato again.

IMG_9078

In the car, she fell asleep since we were WAY overdue for her nap.

Hamper

IMG_8983

We gave Janie this old hamper this weekend to store all her friends in one place.  She likes to dump them all out and play with them one by one.

IMG_8986

She also figured out that the hamper is a fun place to play too.

IMG_8989

She also pretended to go to sleep inside her “tent”.

Day with Mommy

IMG_8787

Daddy went to a class today so Janie and Mommy had a day of shopping and exploring together.  We took our usual walk to the Farmers’ Market for breakfast and this is how Janie stayed close among the crowd.  She “holds the yellow” any time she is out of the stroller.  It’s working well so far.

IMG_8789

There were lots of performers out today and Janie asked to listen to the famous drum guy in front of the clock tower.

IMG_8790

On the way to Union Square, Janie talked on her GG phone and told Daddy about all the things he was missing out on today.

IMG_8792

On our way home, we passed the Disney Store and went inside to say “hello” to Olaf.

IMG_8793

Janie asked to get out of the stroller and managed to hug every Olaf she saw at her level.  Here she is helping him say “hi” to Mommy.

IMG_8794

Then she spotted the Elsa and Anna dolls.

IMG_8795

She decided to take down this Anna doll for a closer look.

IMG_8796

Before heading home, we made a pit stop at the Family Lounge inside the mall.  They have a Janie-sized toilet there where she also took a Janie-sized poop.  What a big girl.

IMG_8798

When we got home, she must have been exhausted because she was in the middle of lecturing Big GG when she fell asleep for her nap.

IMG_8799

Once the blanket was moved out from under her, she straightened out and slept for 2 1/2 hours!

IMG_8806

After her nap, she did some drawing.  She called these “flowers”.

Friday shopping

IMG_8758

President Obama was in SF today so the commute back into the city tonight was horrible.  So, Janie and Mommy stayed in the East Bay for a little shopping while the traffic died down a bit.  We spent most of the time at IKEA where Janie had a fun time in the Children’s Area.

IMG_8759

IMG_8762

She also took the liberty of trying out all of the beds.

IMG_8763

She really liked the canopy bed. Too bad we don’t have room for such a thing.

IMG_8761

We were planning to purchase this $20 set of table and 2 chairs.  Janie thought it would be prudent to try it out first.

IMG_8765

For a snack/dinner, we shared Swedish meatballs, mashed potato, and lingonberry sauce.  Janie loves meatballs so it was perfect.

IMG_8766

She also appreciated the kid-level rail on the stairs.

IMG_8768

Before heading home, we also stopped at Target.  Luckily she was still in the mood for more shopping and enjoyed riding in the shopping cart.

Teddy Bear Birthday Party

IMG_8659

Janie went to Reese’s 4th birthday party and it had a Teddy Bear/Frozen theme.  She also got to play in a bounce house for the first time.

IMG_8644

Everyone brought their favorite stuffed friend so Big GG came along.  They had a tea party in the backyard and Janie got to play with Reese and Isla at the table.  The tea party was complete with Elsa and Anna plates, hats, and tablecloth.

IMG_8647

They also had a bag-decorating station with stickers, markers, googly eyes, and crayons.

IMG_8648

Janie insisted that the bear needed a giant googly eye for the bear’s mouth.

IMG_8654

There was birthday cake and they were blue like Elsa’s dress.

IMG_8655

It was so cute to see Janie and Isla together. Janie was her age during the last year at Reese’s 3rd birthday party.

IMG_8656

Mid-way through the afternoon, Auntie Michelle gave out balloons.  Oh happy day!

IMG_8676

The kids finally found Wilby and Janie met her first cat up-close.  Poor Wilby.

IMG_8679

Must have been an awesome party because she was knocked out with goody bag in hand on the way home.  Fortunately for her, there was traffic getting home so she got a little extra snooze time in the Trader Joe’s parking lot while Daddy did some shopping.
