New Bed

Mommy and Daddy spent most of the day at IKEA and building some new furniture for the kids. Janie has been asking for a “thing with four sticks that make my bed up high” (aka bed frame). So, since Yai is here, we went to IKEA to pick up a bed frame and some dresser drawers for their clothes as well. Unfortunately, we had some pieces missing so we had to go back after dinner and it took a really long time for us to return. The kids had fallen asleep by the time we got back so they fell asleep on the sofa while we finished building Janie’s bed.

Here they are in their beds together. We moved some stuff around but they’re still sleeping right next to each other.

HFM

Dadas stayed home with Peanut today and he was in good spirits.

Unfortunately, by the evening, his rashes had turned into blisters. We suspected he had caught Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease but it was looking a lot worse than the description. The blisters had spread up to his thighs and diaper area too. This is a photo of his knee. Poor baby.

After consulting one of Mama’s doctor friends, we decided to take him to the ED at Children’s Hospital Oakland (Mama’s old workplace).

He was in a great mood and did a good job opening his mouth and allowing the doctor to examine him. He also allowed them to poke some of the blisters for the lab tests they needed.

He was so good and so charming to everyone that he scored an Otter Pop while we waited for our discharge papers. Turns out he had eczema coxackium, which is a more severe version of HFM.

After 3 hours in the ED, it was way past his bed time and he fell asleep in the car on the ride home. We got home a little before midnight.

Rash

The school called and said that Peanut had a rash. Luckily Ankong and Ama were still here so they picked him up early. Ama cooked lunch for him and then Ankong helped him upstairs for a nap.

It looked progressively worse later in the evening.

Paw Patrol

We have succumbed to the craziness of Paw Patrol. Thanks to our friends and family over the past year, we now have almost the whole collection of pups and their vehicles.

Luckily both Peanut and Janie love the cartoon and can play with the toys together.

Peanut also thought it would be a good idea to bring Marshall to bed with him for nap time.
