Janie’s 2nd Cousins came over today. We thought Janie was getting big but seeing her next to Sadie and Theo (now 5 months old and 14 pounds each) reminded us of just how small she still is at 2 weeks of age and 8 pounds. During the first photo, Janie was fast asleep and couldn’t be bothered to wake up for the group shot. The other two were taken after she woke from her nap and Theo didn’t really appreciate his newest family member leaning on him.
Pretty Dress
It’s Spring and 78 degrees outside so I’m wearing a dress today!
Family Photo
Janie’s uncle, auntie, and grandpa came up to visit this weekend.
2 Weeks Old
Janie turned 2 weeks old today! She’s gotten longer, heavier, and even cuter! She’s been napping for longer stretches and eating like a champ, which probably means she’s in the middle of a growth spurt.
I took some photos of her up-close today to record this day. Happy Two Weeks, Baby Girl!
Kumquat
At 10 weeks gestation, Janie was just the size of a kumquat. When we read this, the name kind of stuck as her nickname for the rest of the pregnancy. To this day, we still call her Kumquat sometimes…especially when she’s being a little sneaky or fussy.
So, now at 2 weeks of age, I thought it would be nice to take some portraits of her with an actual kumquat.
This photo looks a little awkward but she didn’t really like holding the kumquat in her hand. It seemed like she was about to chuck it back to me at any second.
Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy
Janie met her Uncle Johnny and Auntie Joy this morning. They flew up with Ta this morning from LA.
Daddy’s working.
Mornings are the best time for Janie and Daddy to hang out. Unfortunately, Daddy’s always having to work but on the other hand, she’s becoming a pretty good early morning alarm and supervisor.
First Bath
On Saturday afternoon, Janie’s umbilical cord stump fell off. We let it air dry for a couple days and had it checked by the nurse today during our weight check visit. She said it looked healed and that it was ok to give her a bath. Yay!
So tonight, we got the bath ready and it was time for a little soak in the warm water. We had a feeling she wouldn’t like it and we were right. She cried most of the time but actually calmed for a bit in the middle.
It was a really quick bath and I was surprised we were able to get a few photos taken of the “traumatic” experience.
She stopped crying immediately after she was taken out of the water and wrapped up in her towel. What a funny girl.
She was also pretty chill while Daddy put on her diaper and PJs. It was almost time for a feeding so we had to give her a pacifier too, which kept her satisfied until we were finished drying and dressing her.
Here she is about 30 minutes later after getting all cleaned and fed.
Hello.
Funny Face
Janie was wide awake this afternoon and she’s already making funny faces in our photos together.
