Belated Thanksgiving

Uncle Jason and Auntie Jia returned from Seattle yesterday so we postponed Thanksgiving dinner to today. They came over and the kids all played on the floor together while Dada was making the turkey.

Janie made the crescent rolls on her own today and helped herself to one while dinner was getting finished up. The chef has to taste her food, right?!

I think Peanut wanted one too.

All the kids sat at the table today in celebration of the babies’ first Thanksgiving. Toni and Thomas brought their feeder seats and had avocado!! Yum.

Chinatown Breakfast

We were all up early so we drove to our favorite breakfast place in Chinatown for jook.

Janie got her very own mug of warm soy milk and drank every last drop.

Janie discovered pomegranates today. They were in her celery soup and she loved them. Dada asked for a little extra on the side at the end of the meal.

Harvest Feast

This morning, Janie helped Mama make corn bread muffins for the Harvest Feast at school today.

Corn bread mix requires lots of muscle power to stir.

She later went to school for a few hours and then Mama and Dada met at her school for the feast. What a nice set-up!

Janie sat at the long table with her fellow Alligators. They all waited patiently for their food and drinks.

She ate next to her friend Ami and they both gobbled up the mac and cheese right away.

After the feast, she got to go home early. We walked home today in the chilly weather.

This morning, Peanut sat on the floor with sister and was doing a good job staying upright on his own.

He also loved sucking on his fingers.

Here they are together. Janie was watching Octonauts with her cereal before going to school.

Peanut likes to sit upright so we brought the feeder seat out of storage and he fits!

It kept him happy for a few minutes but he was already pretty grouchy this afternoon so Mama had to take him out.

It was nice, however, to see him sitting at the table with the family like a big boy.

We went to the Cal Academy this morning and arrived right before it opened for members only. Janie brought her spyglass (toilet paper roll) today so she could spy on the fish.

Peanut sat in the stroller today so he could see all the fish.

This was his favorite exhibit. Reminds me of the photo we have of Janie at the same age.

This was Janie at 3 months at the Waikiki Aquarium.

Janie spent extra time at the large tank with Dada. They searched for the fish shown on the guide cards.

Peanut just hung out with Mama and stared at the fish swimming around.

Janie made another smushed penny with Dada and got one with penguins on it.

For lunch, we walked to Pacific Catch just outside of Golden Gate Park.

Janie got a tasty Carrot Ginger soup and they serve fish pretzels and edamame as a snack! Perfect.

And for dessert, we stopped at the ice cream truck and got a vanilla and chocolate swirl soft serve – Janie’s favorite.

On the way home, both kids were asleep in the car. It was a fun and exciting morning for us all.

Thursday evening

This evening, Janie got to ride in one of the single seats on the train. She was super happy about this.

For dinner, she had one of her favorite things to eat: spaghetti!! She also got brocolli on the side and gobbled those up too.

Sushi

Janie’s choice for dinner tonight was soup and sushi. As the server was taking our order, Janie kept saying “Sushi sushi, Mama!” Here she is having a piece of Mama’s hamachi sashimi.

On our way home from school, Janie wanted pizza for dinner. So, we stopped by the neighborhood pizza join for their Happy Hour $2 slices. We were full and heading home before 6:00 with lots of time for stories and playtime before bed.
