Book

Janie started this book over Christmas Break and Mama found it in a pile of papers. So, she spent part of the day finishing it. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but it’s nice to see her doing some creative writing and adding illustrations.

The title of the book is “The Egg That Was a Rainbow”.

One day, Dad egg went to the store with Peanut and Alice and KK.
(I love this picture of Dada egg pushing Peanut in the shopping cart.)

The 3 of them had so much fun.

On the next day, Dad egg was going to the store and it was raining. He did not like it.
Good and Bad
Valentines
It’s the night before Valentine’s Day so Janie was hard at work signing all her classroom valentines.
Busy Saturday

Janie had a busy morning! She went to Mama’s running meeting at 8:30 am and did some homework. Then she got dropped off at Chinese school at 9:30 am. Meanwhile, Mama went to Target to buy her a new swimsuit.

At 11:30 am, she got picked up from Chinese school and headed straight to her swim class at 12:00 pm. Her new suit is a little loose on her but it was time to get her a new one.
Homework
Kindergarten doesn’t give much homework so Dada bought her another workbook from Costco. It’s a bit too easy but it’s good practice anyway.
Song List
I was cleaning the house today and found this song list. This must have been the playlist they made before their guitar performance the other day. My favorite is the Butt Butt song.
Vacation Homework

Since Janie missed 9 days of school, we signed a Home Study Contract and completed an assignment that was prepared by her teacher. Part of it was to make a travel journal containing 9 pages describing what she did on her vacation.

“I went to Ocean Park. I saw a panda. There was an aquarium.”

“I had dim sum. I ate with Uncle Jason. I rode the bus.”

“I went to Disneyland. I went on Space Mountain. I went with my cousins.”
Reading and Writing

It’s good to see that Janie enjoys doing workbooks and other drawing/writing activities all on her own. She opened up the dinosaur book she received for Christmas and also started a book of her own with words and illustrations.

Early Dinner and Happy Hour

Since the kids have been falling asleep so early, we went to Din Tai Fung (downstairs from our hotel) so they’d have full bellies before bed.

Janie loved the soup dumplings and almond gelatin dessert. She’s trying to open her eyes really big in this picture.

Here’s Peanut’s attempt.

Back at the hotel, the kids showered and put on their pjs before heading upstairs for Happy Hour.

The kids were surprisingly well-behaved and quiet as we waited for Ankong and Ama to return from shopping.
