7 months

Peanut is 7 months old today. Where did the first half of the year go?!

IMG_8345

Highlights from this month include:

  • Gross Motor: This guy is quite a mover. He rolls in both directions and also pivots around in side-sit to really cover some distance on the floor. He’s having more fun on his tummy lately and tries to combat crawl. If you put him in quadruped, he can hold his tummy off the floor for a second or two before his hips give way.
  • Fine Motor: Peanut has been grasping and holding lots of toys. He will inspect a toy by turning it around and then putting it in his mouth. He also sits for longer periods of time actually manipulating parts of a toy by flicking spinners, pressing buttons, and pushing switches back and forth. I love watching him play and learn on his own. Favorite toys include his activity cube, plastic links, clear animal cubes, and the stacking cups.
  • Eating: We’ve really expanded his diet this past month with a variety of flavors and textures. He’s had mango, tofu, rice porridge, kale, pear, cauliflower, romanesco, puffs, rice crackers, yogurt, and peanut butter. So far he has been allergy-free. Yay! Unfortunately, he doesn’t poop as often and it worries Mama. We’ll have to get prunes on board soon.

IMG_8278

  • Expressions: He loves to make this new squinty stink face and smiles a lot. He’s generally a happy kid when he’s not hungry or sleepy.
  • Social: Peanut loves his big sister and watches her every move. He doesn’t have stranger anxiety yet and usually enjoys meeting new people. Unfortunately, he also doesn’t like to be left alone for too long, which makes it hard to get stuff done at home sometimes.
  • Events: He’s outgrown the Rock n Play and sleeps primarily in the co-sleeper (flat on his back finally!) or stroller when he’s congested. We celebrated Chinese New Year with friends. Super Bowl came and went. We have also had a string of illnesses in the house and he’s been the healthiest of the 4.

IMG_8289

  • Sleep and Routine: This has been rough. He’s regressed in his sleep and will keep Mama up every 2 hours most nights. He also wakes up super early (4 or 5 am) and we usually have to leave the house because he makes too much noise. During the day, he’s great and has been sticking to a pretty regular pattern of naps and feeds. He loves hanging out with Mirian and gets to go to the library and playground pretty often.

Happy 7 Months, Big Boy!! We love you so much and can’t wait to see what new things you’ll learn this next month.

Here are some additional photos:

This is what our photoshoots look like lately. He’s such a mover that it takes lots of shots to get it right.

7-month visit

IMG_8256

Peanut had to go in for his flu shot booster today and did a good job tolerating the shot in his leg.

IMG_8258

This is what he looked like while we waited for the nurse to arrive.

We also had him weighed and measured:

Weight:
7/31/15: 8 lbs, 12 oz (Birth Weight), 89th percentile
8/2/15: 8 lbs, 2 oz (Discharge Weight), 70th percentile

8/6/15: 8 lbs, 6 oz (2nd Weight Check), 67th percentile
8/12/15: 9 lbs, 1 oz (3rd Weight Check), 72nd percentile
9/1/15: 12 lbs, 4 oz (1-month Check), 95th percentile(!!)
10/1/15: 16 lbs, 5 oz (2-month Check), 99th percentile(!!!!!)
12/1/15: 21 lbs (4-month Check), 100th percentile (A+!)
2/1/16: 22 lbs, 14 oz (6-month Check), 99th percentile
2/29/16: 24 lbs (7-month Check), 99th percentile

Length:
7/31/15: 21 inches, 97th percentile

2/1/16: 27 inches, 66th percentile
2/29/16: 27.25 inches, 52nd percentile

It looks like his height needs to catch up to his weight. Fortunately, his head grew quite a bit this past month. That may have contributed to the increase in weight because his clothes still fit about the same as last month.

The doctor was concerned with this week-long cough so she prescribed antibiotics and albuterol  treatments for him.  Otherwise, she was pleased with his growth and encouraged us to feed him lots of new foods.  Too bad the visit ended with 4 shots and an oral med.

6 months

IMG_7010It’s hard to believe that our little baby boy is 6 months old already.  Where does the time go? This past month has been full of ups and downs but overall it has been an exciting one.

IMG_7028He’s more of a little human now with lots of personality.  We’re also taking his monthly photos upright now.

IMG_7032Highlights of this past month:

  • He rang in the new year with the family.
  • Peanut said goodbye to his cousins who moved down to Southern California.
  • He’s rolling and rolling everywhere – at least to his left.
  • Sitting without support and pivoting from side to side now.
  • He’s enjoying Tummy Time more now and pushes up on his hands.
  • When he’s on his back, he’s always grabbing his feet.
  • Tolerates car rides so much better now and loves watching his sister in the backseat with him.
  • Plays with toys and tries to grab and eat everything within reach.
  • Started solids: avocado, banana, butternut squash, sweet potato, and apple.
  • Caught a stomach bug one weekend and then caught a terrible cold another week.
  • Mama went back to work and Peanut started staying home with Mirian and Andrea.
  • Wears mostly 12-18 month clothes and hes’ still in Size 4 diapers.
  • He went back to sleeping in the co-sleeper and doesn’t need to be swaddled as much anymore.  Unfortunately, he had to go back to sleeping in the rocker while he was sick.
  • He went back to sleeping through the night (about 9 hours) but then it got messed up every time he got sick.

IMG_7045

Happy 6 months to our big boy! You’re growing up way too fast but we also can’t wait to see what kind of little person you’re going to become!

Peanut turned 19 weeks today!  We didn’t have room for Ducky to come with us to Hawaii but we got a photo of Peanut sitting anyway.

So much happened this past week!

  • Peanut flew to Hawaii for the first time.  He did great on his first 5-hour flight.
  • Prop sitting is our favorite position now that he’s more stable.
  • He’s rolling from his back to his side but still hasn’t figured out how to get all the way over to his belly.
  • Peanut went into the pool for the first time this week and loved it.  In fact, it made him so relaxed that he fell asleep as soon as we took him out to dry.
  • We’re seeing him entertain himself a little more by tasting his fingers or holding/tasting ring toys.
  • He also sat in a highchair at a restaurant for the first time.
  • Adjusting to the time change in Hawaii has been better than expected.
  • Peanut is also officially in Size 4 diapers!! Yikes.

We are having a great time watching him grow, develop, and experience new things.  It’s also fun to see him loving Hawaii as much as we do!  Happy 19 weeks, Peanut!!!

The doctor was so happy with his growth and also gave him the green light to start solids.  Hm…we were initially going to start him at 6 months but we may start earlier now!!  He certainly looks very interested in Mama’s food when she’s eating.  She also noted that he’s more social and interactive with her versus her big sister who STILL hasn’t said a single word to her!

IMG_3779

Today, Peanut also got more vaccinations.  He did well with the oral med.

IMG_3780

This squinty face was made because the medicine was cold.  Funny boy.

IMG_3782

He also got two shots on his chubby thighs.  He didn’t feel the first one but the he cried a little after the second.  Overall, he did great!

IMG_3686

Look who’s 4 months old today!  We love how social he is but it’s also made it frustrating at times since he doesn’t like to be left alone.

IMG_3688

This month has been full of smiles and giggles.  He’s also trying so hard to sit up and we’ve played around with propping him up with pillows.  He also started sitting in the feeder seat during mealtimes for short periods of time. We’re also seeing the start of some rolling from his back to his tummy but he’s got a big tummy to move so it’s not quite there yet.

IMG_3690

Playing on his tummy is getting easier but it’s still not his favorite.  On his back, he’s been interacting more with the toys hanging over him and will bring toys to his mouth if he can get a hold of them.

IMG_3692

We started celebrating the holidays at Light-up Night and with family on Thanksgiving weekend.

Happy 4 months, Little Man!  We’re looking forward to seeing what you’re gonna do next!

Peanut is 16 weeks old today and Mr. Social has been mostly smiles this week.  Unfortunately, his sleep has regressed a bit and has been waking more frequently at night.  Lucky for Dada, he’s been overseas on a business trip to France this week!  Mama has been surviving just fine but it’s mostly because Janie has been doing a better job listening and getting ready for school in the mornings.

Peanut has been wanting to sit up from a reclined position his week and we doctored up some pillows to help him sit up for short periods of time.  This has been very helpful to Mama who still has to get laundry done and bills paid.  He’s also a little more interested in the mobile hanging over his bed and has been falling asleep there most nights instead of wanting to be in the rock-n-play.  What a funny boy.

The biggest highlight of this week was his first day at the library for Baby Rhyme Time.  As expected, he loved watching the other kids and smiled when Mama helped him clap his hands to the music.  His neck is also getting stronger (and longer?!) lately because it’s been a little easier to clean under his chin this week and he giggles when Mama tickles him on the neck area under his ears.

Look who’s 14 weeks old today! I still can’t believe he’s past the 3-month mark.

DSC_7353

Highlights of the past week:

  • We’ve officially moved up to Size 3 diapers.  Anyone need Size 2?!  I have lots to give away.
  • Peanut took his 4th flight on Wednesday and he’s such a good traveler.
  • He also went to Disneyland for the first time.  Although he slept through a lot of the day, he was up enough to enjoy the sights and sounds – especially the Light the Night Parade.
  • Fussiness during the day has increased these past couple days.  Hopefully it’s just a growth spurt or something.  Today, he was in a much better mood overall.
  • Peanut still loves being carried in the Ergo and still hates being the car.  However, he has become a bit more tolerant of car rides if Mama is in the back seat entertaining him.
  • His longest stretch of sleep is averaging 7 hours at night.
  • He is one chatty little dude and it’s so much fun to see him so interactive with us.  Belly laughs are coming more frequently too.
  • Today, he rolled from his tummy to his back again.  He also started showing interest in the O-ball.  His hands are also constantly in his mouth, which leads to lots of soggy shirts and bibs.

Happy 14 weeks!!!

Peanut is 3 months old today!!  He’s grown and changed so much already. He moved up to Size 3 diapers by the end of this month and now comfortably fits 9-month clothes.  Crazy!!

IMG_2179

His personality is definitely coming out and we just love to see him smile AND LAUGH! We’ve gotten some really good belly laughs out of him this past month.  Mama also witnessed him rolling over from his tummy to his back one time.  He loves staring at his hands and sucking on them too.  This can keep him occupied for 10-15 minutes sometimes.

IMG_2177

We’ve taken him to so many places this past month including Vancouver, Cerritos, Redwood City (Auntie and Uncle’s House), and the California Academy of Sciences.  He has also met so many new people including his aunts and uncles in Vancouver.

IMG_2175
At the end of the month, Peanut took BART and flew in an airplane for the first time!  He’s a good traveler so far and Mama really appreciates that.

Happy 3 months, Baby Boy!!
