Janie usually sleeps really well when she’s swaddled and when I unwrap her, she wakes up crying. However, this morning after I unwrapped her, she stretched her arms up and fell back asleep in that position.

It was a pleasant evening in Oakland and Janie joined us in celebrating Auntie Teresa’s birthday.

She got lots of snuggle time with all her aunties and got a couple good naps in too.

Janie took a nap in Mommy’s arms at Peet’s Coffee this afternoon.

We woke up this morning around 7 am and look at who was still asleep! She had fallen asleep around 1 am and didn’t wake until just shortly after this photo was taken. That meant all three of us got a 6-hour chunk of sleep!

We took Janie on her first trip to Costco today and I had her in the front carrier the whole time.

I guess it was extra comfy because she slept through the entire hour. Here’s what she looked like from the top.

As I’ve said before, she always looks extra cute from this angle.

Per her doctor’s instructions, we’ve been working on stretching out Janie’s feeds to every 4 hours. So far it has been working and she also sleeps up to 5 1/2 hours at night! It’s not every night but that has been her record so far.

She was a little cranky this morning. When I finally got her to fall asleep, it was in this position. People have been telling me that she looks huge in all her photos but then looks so much smaller in real life. Hopefully this photo will give you some perspective. We have a Queen-sized bed.

We now have a nightly routine. I feed her at 9:00 pm, go to bed around 10:00 pm, and Jes stays up to feed her at 12:00 am. Sometimes she’s practically eating in her sleep at midnight. With this plan, I get about 6 hours of sleep before she wakes up again at 4:00 am. That’s when I pick her up and feed/change her in the livingroom and she sleeps in the bassinet on the chair while I sleep on the couch for the rest of the morning. That way she can fuss as much as she needs while Jes gets enough sleep for work in the morning. It’s been going well so far and last night was about the same. However, a certain little baby woke up again at 6:30 and didn’t want to go back to sleep. So, I plopped her next to me on the couch and hung out with her until we both fell asleep. When Jes got up to get ready for work, he found us sleeping together like this.

We didn’t wake up until 9:00 am for her next feeding. Afterward, she was in such a good mood that she was perfectly happy just sitting under the blanket with me on the couch.

Janie loves her giraffe. It goes everywhere she goes and helps soothe her when all else fails.
