First Day of School Part 2

After a whole year of remote learning, it’s the First Day of In-person School!! Yaaaaay! Peanut finally gets to attend Amelia Earhart School and see his teacher and classmates in person. It will be abbreviated but still worth the trouble.

With the different start and end times, we made arrangements for Janie to ride her bike to school with Maya, her older brother, and some other 5th graders. She was super excited about that.

Peanut also rode his bike to school with Mama and Dada. This is similar to how we walked KK to school on her first day of Kindergarten.

When we arrived, we took a couple photos and then went to the gate to meet his teacher, Ms. Wells. They all lined up 6 feet apart and then walked into the classroom together. So cute.

Here’s a side-by-side of Janie and Peanut’s first day of Kindergarten. So similar but so different at the same time.

“Moo Cow” was passed down from Janie to Peanut and he loves him as much as Janie once did. I’m sad that this picture is so blurry because it’s a cute one and reminds me of one of the photos I took of Janie when she was a little over 2.

We’ve been dreading this day but now it’s time to fly back to the Bay Area. Peanut sat on one of the lobby chairs waiting for Dada to bring the car around and it reminded me of a photo we took of Janie when she was 2.

Before returning the rental car, we had to stop at Auntie Yoon and Uncle Kurt’s office to drop off the gear we borrowed from them. We are so happy they will be in town for Christmas this year!

Once we arrived at the airport and got through security, the kids were free to explore until it was time to board the plane.

Highlights: Janie sat with Sophie for a couple episodes of Paw Patrol and Peanut took two naps.

Luckily the flight home was only 4.5 hours and both kids did unusually well.

Waikiki Aquarium

img_9023

This was Janie’s 4th visit to Waikiki Aquarium and it’s just as fun (if not funner) than her first visit. Today, she got to feel a hermit crab walking on her hand!

img_9016

It was Peanut’s first visit and he was sleeping when we arrived!!

img_9035

Luckily, he woke up and got to explore the aquarium on foot.

Dada helped him get up closer to some of the fish.

Here’s a photo of Janie in front of the same outdoor fish tank with the same two fish. She’s growing and the fish look the same.

Here she is when she was 2 years old. So little…

Janie got a smushed penny today and Peanut tried to help her with the crank.

We also got Peanut’s first photo in front of the sign.

This is Janie when she was 24 months old (8 months older than Peanut now but appears smaller than him).

On Saturday morning, Janie rode her scooter to the Farmers Market. She also brought her camera and took photos of all the pretty fruit and flowers!

For lunch, we walked/scootered to Hillstone and Peanut had a fun time hanging out in the patio with the family.

We even got a photo Peanut on Embarcadero around the same age Janie took hers.

Everyone, including Mama, took a nap at the same time this afternoon. So nice. This is what Janie and Dada looked like. So similar…

For dinner, we went to Japan Town. Janie was still so happy to have her Daddy home. This is such as sweet photo.

The kids also posed for a rare photo together.

Look who’s a whopping 20 weeks old today and sitting so well!

Here’s Janie at 20 weeks.  Love seeing them side by side.

Highlights:

  • Flew home on the plane without any problems and sat in his own seat.
  • Propping on his hands when he’s on his tummy.
  • Trying to roll from his back to his tummy but gets stuck on his side.
  • Sitting unsupported for a few seconds at at time.
  • Reaching and grasping for toys and bringing them to his mouth.
  • He’s sleeping an average of 8 hours every night and his daytime naps have become a little more consistent. The adjustment back to Pacific Standard Time has also been easier than expected.
  • The biggest change is that we think his clogged tear duct has resolved.  We think it could be the magic of Hawaii…more likely it was the humidity. Dada thinks he rubbed it out. Regardless, this boy has had no goopy eyes for a week. Yippee!!

Happy 20 weeks, Peanut!  Love you!
