Sick Afternoon

IMG_2055

Mommy was sick this afternoon so Janie got picked up early from school.  The kids were just getting up from their naps and Janie had just finished going potty and was getting her Pull-up changed.

The afternoon was spent watching Chip and Dale so Mommy could rest.  It was a win for both of us.

She also played quietly with her fuzzy puzzle set.  What a good girl she was today.

Easy Monday

IMG_2037

Mondays are usually really hard for Janie but this morning really surprised me.  She woke up without crying or whining.  She usually asks to be carried into school but not today!  She walked herself into school and there were no tears. Wonderful.

Back to School

IMG_1658

It’s Monday morning after a two-week vacation!  Fortunately, it was pretty easy getting Janie ready and she was happy to ride in the car with Mommy.

When she actually got to school, however, she got really sad and only wept quietly in the chair that she sits in when she arrives at school.  She tried so hard to be brave today and didn’t completely lose it.  Later in the morning, I texted Tia to see how she was doing and she said she was fine 10 minutes after I left and sent a photo of her.

Daycare

This morning when Janie got dropped off at school, the teacher informed me that yesterday they had to send all the kids home because they lost power and part of their home flooded.  It was a good thing we stayed home yesterday!  This afternoon, the backyard was getting some work done so the kids were inside the house.  I found the kids hanging out with Tia Irma and the youngest of the crew.  They were each giving the baby a high five.

Friday Morning

IMG_0565

It’s Friday morning and time to go to school!  This would be her 5th day in a row and she’s ready!

Unfortunately, when we got to school, she almost lost it.  She sat down next to some friends for breakfast and as I walked out she started to cry.  I gave her one last hug and reminded her that she had GG today.  She held onto him so tightly this morning and wasn’t ready to put him in Tia’s pocket just yet.  She stopped crying by the time I signed her in and as I spied through the back window on my way out, I could see her just sitting there furiously rubbing GG’s ears with her breakfast in front of her.  I thought the 5th day would be the easiest day but it wasn’t.

No GG

IMG_0550

This morning, Janie brought GG and a book into the car for the ride to school.  When we arrived, she got out of the car seat and said “No GG, Mama”.  I thought, “did she lose it?”  What she actually meant was that she did not want to bring GG – just her book.  I said “OK” and stuffed GG in my pocket.  We walked into school and she sat down on her usual chair clutching her book.  Still no request for GG.  So, I left and instead of taking GG to work with me, I put him in her cubby.  When I returned in the afternoon, she had not used GG all day but was so happy to see him when I pulled him out of the cubby.  She gave him a big snuggle and we were on our way home.

Happy!

IMG_0528

This morning at drop-off, she actually smiled at the teacher and smiled for a picture.

She even got down from the chair to choose a toy. I think we have a kid who likes going to school now!
