This kid has been having bad dreams almost every night around midnight. Apparently it’s a phase in toddlerhood. On Sunday night, she was in a pretty deep sleep in the carseat when we got home. It was late, she hardly napped that day, and it was the first day of Daylight Saving. When we took her out, she was in such a panicked state that she cried, screamed, and ran around trying to escape the bathroom when I turned on the water in the bathtub. I had never seen her so scared. A friend told me that it’s as if she is in a state where she can’t tell if she’s dreaming or awake. Luckily she snapped out of it when the bath was over and she didn’t remember anything the next day. When I turned on the water in the bathtub the next night, she was just as excited as she usually is. Phew. I’m glad I didn’t traumatize her too badly. Too bad when midnight rolled around, she started to cry the same way she was that night I was trying to bathe her – as if she was trying to get away from something. Luckily when I turned on the noise machine it helped her calm down. Poor baby.
